Paul Smith attracts some of the most passionate support of any fighter, British or foreign, on this forum.

He has defeated Tony Quigley and Tony Dodson in bruising encounters and is lining up a shot at WarrenBO champion Stieglitz.

It's obvious that he will soon prove himself the best super middleweight in the world, the Super Six only started the tournament to avoid a brutal KO loss at the hands of ''Smigga''.

So, Paul Smith vs the following - which ones does he beat?

    Roy Jones
    Bernard Hopkins
    Marvin Hagler
    Tommy Hearns
    Carlos Monzon
    Joe Calzaghe
    Virgil Hill
    Chris Eubank
    Nigel Benn
    Michael Watson

He beats nobody beyond domestic level, and he's lucky he's not in a division like 140lbs where there numerous decent fighters.

Robert Stieglitz would clown Paul Smith all night so they may as well forget title shots.

I think Magee will get to Stieglitz first anyway.

I think he can beat Steglitz in Liverpool I really do, I'll be honest I feel his topic is a bit unfair and taking the **** a little bit lads, Paul has never stated he's one of the best super middles in the world and I know he cherises that British title.. I mean how many fighters do you see walk the ring with there belt attatched firmly round there waist!! That belt means the world to Paul...

I've never once seen him say I am the best super middle on the planet and all I've seen him do is praise every fighter in the super 6!! I for 1 really rate Paul, Not just co I have known him since we were young and not cos I've trained alongside him but cos I've seen him fight at top level as an am and good level as a pro and he always finds a way to win, That ain't luck that's skill..

To come through the cuts like he did against Dodson was a amazing feat it really was, I swear I went in his changing room afterwards and they were the worst cuts I've EVER seen!!

I actually rate George Groves too and it's good to see a kid so eager for match ups like the one he's asking for BUT he does know that it's highly unlikely to happen as he's with Hayemaker/Maloney and Paul is a highly regarded FW fighter so just that alone means it nearly impossible to make as it's just not big enough yet, If Paul wins a world title or George does then Im sure they'll accomodate each other but until then it's all just hype.As is the Groves V DeGale fight..

Either way guys I think Paul should be cut a bit slack as he ain't saying he'll beat any of the above fighters especially as he loves nearly all of them on that list...:good

It's not on having a go at Smith just because he has a lot of support, In fact, his real supporters don't go on about him being the best super-middleweight ever, they just think he has a good chance against Groves at this time so this thread's a bit out of order. I'm a big fan of his but recognise he's got limitations but he is a lot more experienced than Groves and has shown great heart to come through in his last 2 fights (the cuts in the Dodson 1 and being behind vs quigley). I think Groves can become a big star and I like his attitude but I think there's a chance he could be exposed for bing to green at this minue by Smith if they fight. I'm gutted the magee fight is not happening because that would have been very close and the winner would deserve a shot at Stieglitz

i like paul smith's style of fighting he never ever gives in,certainly when he was born the balls were in the right place, i beleive he can go on to win a world title. imo he would have to much experience for groves at this stage. the thing with paul is you never here daft predictions or he's going to do this or that,he does his talking in the ring. good luck to him.

Why all the **** taking out of Paul Smith on here and I have seen it on boxrec too? It is starting to remind me of the shite that Derry Matthews used to get on here.

He has came through a couple of wars in his last fights and has shown he can get in the trenches if he has too. He isnt and never will be a Sugar Ray Leonard - but he is a top fighter and title holder.

I doubt its anything to do with Paul it's just recently there was a good load of Smith fans joining who seemed to care only about Smith, like some Khan fans. Who overrated him.

The Matthews stuff was a bit out of a hand seeing as that was all directed straight at Derry I'm sure Beeston is just taking the **** out of some of his fans that joined.

Amir Khan is a World Champion and Olympic Silver Medalist.

Paul Smith is a decent domestic fighter at the moment, he's one of the worst British Champions at the moment on skill/ability.

His last two fights have been utter ****.

But he did show allot of heart against Dodson.

But the skills and ability is just not there for me.
