Again, for those not reading thread and just popping in. Kelly came into camp at 185 with added upper body muscle. How much bigger do you think Froch can be if they both weigh in at 168?

I have watched Kelly and I am a fan. But Froch really does pressure non-stop for 12 rounds.

Pavlik threw ~90 punches a round against Miranda, most of them with serious whack, and did it consistently throughout the fight. When has Froch ever shown worked that hard?

I've been following Froch for a good while now and one thing I've learnt is that you just can't write him off. Ever since he emerged at the world level people have looked at his technique and given him no chance; before the Pascal fight, before Jermaine people said he looked slow and hittable against Pascal and wouldn't last, again against Dirrell. The guys not gonna go his whole career with an unblemished record by any means, but on his day I think he can beat just about anyone at 168 and tends to prove his critics wrong.

Pavlik has only fought 1 meaningful fight at 168. By the time Froch fights pavlik, he would've had at least 3 more than when he faced JT.

The better competition you fight, the better you get, the more you learn. To suggest just because he was behind vs JT, he's not going to improve is redic.

It was the only the 2nd time Froch had ever fought out of the UK.

What people forget is that 1 judge had froch ahead in the fight. I remember watching it thinknig JT was prob ahead, but that it was close and could go either way. JT certianly didnt dominate Froch.

I'm not saying that Froch is def going to beat pavlik, i think it would be a great and close fight (and naturally, being from the UK, i want/think froch shades it). But saying Pavlik wins just because he is "15secs better than JT" is pretty sh*tty reasoning

Pavlik is just NOT a 168lb'er, i didnt think he looked that great in Taylor 2 and we all know what happened with BHop

To be fair something looked seriously wrong with him in the B-Hop fight, I don't think it was all B-Hop.

But I really do think Carls pressure and power would tell!!!

I like Froch, think his attitude is great and he is actually quite funny with his smack talk on occasion, particularly now he seems to be able to go 10 seconds without saying “Joe Calzaghe”.

Think it would be close but would have to edge slightly to KP as he punches about as hard but straighter than Carl, plus has better defence (who doesn’t?).

Have to agree with the guy who said that the “Is KP 14 seconds better than Taylor” argument is crap though. If you want to play shitty 1 line assessments like that I could say “Is Froch a better finisher than Taylor” and use that as an argument as any better finisher than Taylor would have had KP out of there in their first fight.

I already know, I’ve have heard the arguments “KP put his hands down, he won’t let Froch have a free shot on him ..” blah blah blah. Fair enough I am not trying to argue that, but a Froch supporter could say he won’t be nervous as he was for Taylor as his first fight in US etc.

The Point is 1 line explanations like that add next to nothing worthwhile to the discussion.

    This.

Froch would just go to war, and eventually break Pavlik, i pick Froch by KO

That may be true, but I'm still going to make my picks on the basis on what I can see rather than mystical, odds-defying intangibles (and I hope you will, too).

OK. Let me lay it out for those that really don't get it. Froch won via desperation. That doesn't always work. Hence, 14 seconds better.

I just think froch is "Naturally" larger... Itll be a tight fight but pavlik is smaller in my eyes and thats the only difference... probably more fundamentally sound but it would definitely be interesting

Pavlik's chin would be under fire.. Froch hits hard, is bigger and stronger.. of course Froch's chin would be put under pressure too. It's close to call but I'd favour Froch as he is proven at 168, whereas Kelly isn't.
