Kelly took ribbing for excepting this fight. A day prior to the announcement of B-Hop, Kelly was mentally preparing to fight Paul Williams (fact).

The REAL Reason is...
because in this fight there is a possible chance of a K.O.
where as in the Calzaghe fight it was a 100% chance that it was going the distance.

This might be one of the only fight's in which many think Bernard's chin will be tested. And he might need it....

Bernard is a skilled vet with more tricks than most fighters even know about. I think it is disrespect to B-Hop when you hammer his opponent. Granted, he did lose to Calzaghe, but he has never been stopped, and as good as Joe is Hop lost by SD. Pavlik doesn't throw as many punches as Joe C and his skills are still questionable. I think it turns out to be a good fight for the fighters and the fans.

People act like Hopkins is some bum just because hes 63 in the shade. The guy was competitive with a top p4p fighter (plenty of people had him winning, although i didn't), and only last year he gave Tarver a whooping. He is still a top fighter at 175 and Pavlik is moving up in weight to fight him.

 

I have a problem with Pavlik being called untested...Zertuche was a test, Miranda was supposed to decapitate him and Taylor was to out class him...I'd say he's battle tested especially after the first Taylor fight

if he's getting any kind of "free Pass" it's because he was ducked by JC and with everyone else engaged in a fight or a hospital bed (AA) Kelly might as well do his best to beat the bag out of a guy who gave Calzaghe a tough time.

I think it's a bad move because when he beats hopkins JC will only run faster
