    Hello,

I'm moving down to London in June from Edinburgh and looking for a new gym to train and and depending on how long I end up staying for looking to compete as well.

My coach at the moment has said he'll put me in contact with someone at the peacock gym and I was just wondering if anyone knows what this gym is like? Any other gyms that I should think about checking out? Going to be living in Lewisham so preferably near there.

    Cheers

You have 3 nearby off the top of my head.

Double Jab in New Cross which is a fairly new establishment and from what i understand is improving under new management since it was based in Forest Hill.

Honor Oak ABC which last time I knew was based in a school on Elm Lane in Catford used to be run by a decent trainer called Tom who recently passed away.

Also Fitzroy Lodge in Waterloo/Kennington used to be run by the legendary Mick Carney who has also sadly passed away.

I havent visited Honor Oak or Fitzroy Lodge for a few years so I cant give you an accurate assement of the current state since the head trainers have passed. The Lodge has far more history than the others with David Haye its most well know graduate and while Mick was around it would have been the first place I would have sent anybody.

Oh and theres Fisher in Bermonsey I think but I have never been there.

Sorry its not more upto date but its a start!

No that's great, thanks for your input. I follow ed Robinson on twitter and he was posting old photos of the fitzroy lodge so I am familiar with it.

    Cheers.

I box at Double Jab, New Cross.

The club has really improved a lot under new management. If you are living in Lewisham it's on your doorstep - you should come down and give it a try.

Yeah I've passed that on the train I think. Many boys fighting out of the gym?

Lots of carded boxers between 0-15 fights, none above. New club and all that.
