Holy ****, I dont think i ever recall seeing a chin as good as gerry's. Great job by lopez, but im still in awe by the beating gerry took, he (gp) would get hit by literally about 15-20 power shots then blast lopez with outstanding counters out of no where.

I have a whole new respect for penalosa and a oustanding call by Roach at the perfect time. Very emotional fight. Good ****.

One thing I'll say, however, is I agreed with Max (I think) that a lot of those power shots were not totally flush...Penalosa served himself well keeping his hands high for most of the fight.

Yea I deff agree all of those power shots were not flush, because as you said, penalosa's hands were up the entire fight deflecting quite a few of the never ending amount of power shots thrown.

But i have been in the ring and know that if your as strong as a juanma even getting hit with your glove against your head or body takes its toll quicker than some would think.

Glancing or not, Penalosa showed great heart and a great chin being a small 122 pounder against a guy who will fight at 126 next year and walks around at 135 lbs.

Ive never complimented a fighter this much after a loss before.

Gerry Penalosa is the epitome of what boxing is about.

I was gonna thread on that quote from Max, by the way.

It was the best and most accurate thing I've ever heard him say, or at least the most sensational.

I agree 100%. I love all aspects of boxing. As i said earlier, juanma was great tonight, but penalosa gave so much and never truley gave up, he merely listened to his trainer as a truely professional boxer should. And the fact freddy was in tears yet again solidifies what were amazed at right now.

Someone with boxing skill such as j marquez is amazing when on display, but to me anyway isnt in the league of amazing when compared to what penalosa showed tonight.

Good for boxing, one of few instaces where the loser is also a winner in the hearts of the people. Congrats to gerry and juanma. Juanma is on his way to becoming the greatest world boxing champion from puerto rico.

Penalosa is a ****ing warrior beast.

He went agro a few times when Lopez hurt him. Just for a moment it looked like he'd start to go, and then Penalosa would snap back with incredible speed and force. He's a killer, man.
