I have followed his career closely and always noticed he carried an aura around with him and a strange calmness in almost any situation. The efforts the interviewer goes not to overstep the mark or get out of his comfort zone speaks volumes. I don't think you will see anyone calling out Peter Fury for a straightn'r anytime soon. Some interesting insights into Tyson coming through where he highlights his obvious weaknesses, his lack of commitment to the sport and training when he took him on and even advising to go with with Ingle. He hints at being disgusted with the post Klitschko fallout and it's clear Fury's irratic behaviour is what caused the feud. Also explains why he got into boxing and why he is still there and also why he will only ever train Hughie and Savannah. Another of his forgotten achievements was getting Hughie youth amateur gold, which is why Hughie had all the journalistic hype when they both turned professional.
John is the dealer who is loud and brash and gets caught in two years, Peter is the smart one that maybe lasts ten years or so before eventually getting caught and by that point has hidden the money away
Peter Fury is a real don. Commands respect without any aggression and when he does get angry (remember Higgins at the Parker press conference) he ends things pretty sharpish.
Great listen those videos. British boxing’s YouTube channel has quite a lot of good interviews, bit less nonsense than IFL etc sometimes
He does. Seems a measured, cool customer. Thoughtful guy too, his interviews are usually worth a watch. Can imagine him being good in a pressure situation.
His son Hughie 'The Skirt' Fury takes this calm approach to his boxthing which is missing one key ingredient - aggression. If only Hughie can be injected with 50% of John Fury's genetic make up.
He's good to listen to except when he's talking about Hughie. He's deluded when it comes to his boy, like most fathers involved in boxing.
