I like Steward, but he is too afraid to criticize a fighter when they need it.

Roy is good he knows boxing! Actually so does Max Kellerman - Lampley & Merchant are just yes men for their network and hype who they are told to hype.

Roy isnt the most articulate guy in the world having said that on the Broner vs Escobedo card he slowed down his speech and came across really well

Although did slightly grind my gears when he said something like "there is a way past that defence but its not for me to say" really Roy? wonder what an expert commentator is used for? lol

    - but chats less **** than manny & what he says actually make sense unlike Lennox.

BTW - Although I am not a huge fan of Tarver the boxer - He is a really really good commentator.

    I liked Foreman the best.

    Tarver second.

Roy last. He talks about himself WAY too much.

I think Jermain Taylor would make a good commentator and also needs to retire. HBO should be talking to him.

    Of the guys in suits...

Kellerman is usually right on with his opinions and asks good questions, but he takes himself too seriously. Lose the mellowdrama and he's the best.

Steward is a great trainer but isn't outspoken enough on the air. I suspect to keep any business deals (current or future) from falling apart.

Lampley is funny but is a company man to the core.

Merchant I ignore completely unless its the post-fight interview and I only listen to hear the fighter, not Merchant.

Bernstien and the guys on Showtime do a great job.

Atlas is always funny without meaning to be. Still, he kicks everyones ass in the ring except maybe Tarver and Roy.. lol

I remember Roy calling a KO right before it happened... By the same punch even... I forgot who this was...

He also called Tarver vs. Johnson well, very unbiased, recently knocked out by both...

How many announcers do we know that can do that?

Roy is the type of announcer who will call a knockout with a specific punch right for a specific reason right before it happens.

cant see how you can hate on that

i think roy is the best at the table. i think he understands boxing more and what is happing in the ring more. he sheds light were there light needs to be shed, i think its always good to have a boxer to join hbo broadcast team. lampley gets bias and calls missed or blocked shots as shots landed. kellerman is ok but jones is the best at the table for ME !
