Povetkin vs Wlad

Povetkin has no chance against Wlad. His defense is bad, he took every Jab vom Chambers. Povetkin is too amateurish, ne needs to change his style, maybe working with Freddy Roach or another good professional coach.

Wlad will win by TKO in round 7.

 

Povetkin is not amateurish at all. I don't know who you've been watching, but its far from an amateur style he employs. Wlad fights in a far more amateur style with his fencing jab, no bodywork whatsoever and lack of inside fighting ability. Povetkin still relies on his amateur skills, but he's put them into a pro style of pressure fighting.

Fitz, I agree Pov is a pretty good fighter. However, I feel he's more of a danger to Vitali at this stage. The reasons are...I'm not impressed with Vitali's timing when his opponent is aggressive. He did not time Gomez with **** for a long time. Only a jab. That leads me to believe Povetkin can get inside his reach and go to work. Also, Vitali is much slower than Wlad due to his injuries, age and inactivity. Finally, Vitali has been blowing real hard in his fights. Against the work-rate of Povetkin that could be a problem late on.

Povetkin is an undefeated figher who has not lost a single fight within the last 5 years-at the pros and the amateurs.
His performance against Estrada wasnt that outstandingly convincing,but he had been out of the game for quite a long time due to an injury.
Povetkin himself stated in an interview after his encounter with Estrada that he was quite content with his performance after his long absence from the ring.
I for one think that Povetkin will give hell to Wlad.Well,to be fair I somehow doubt that he will be victorious against Wlad,but he has the tools to make the water extremely hot for the undisputed nr.1 at heavy weight.

 

IHMO Povetkin is overrated. His resume still looks decent for someone below 20 fights, but it should be noted he picked Donald or Byrd when they were just "names".

That leaves only one notable win over Chambers, and without analysing the fight in details I dare say Povetkin is still untested. Of course, I do not mean completely untested, but if someone tries to convince me he is going to "give Wlad a lot of problems"... well, I can only say I have seen some of his fights and I still can't think of any kind of problem Wlad would have with him. So far, the biggest problem seems to be getting him into the ring

Povetkin is going to fight 2009/10 version of Wlad, and Wlad improved under Steward. Purrity/Brewster/Sanders losses looked bad, but they point is they are now history.
