I don't rate Hughie Fury at all. However even feather fisted Hughie would probably stop Price. Price should retire while he still has his faculties.
Price could retire but he has reached cult status among boxing fans now. He is still a good ticket seller and card filler and there is still money to be made I just hope he is matched to his advantage going forward and not that of a greedy promoter.
I have no confidence in Price's stamina. He has a chance of knocking Hughie Fury out but I could see Hughie running to a late stoppage.
Price needing one more go of it. But he needs to do it right this time. Go back to domestic level. Get that confidence back up...and have one more sensible crack at it. They should have done it right after the second Thompson fight. Your a long time retired. Theres a fanbase still there for him. He can still hit. Hes still a hard man to fight against with his size etc. Just don't stick him in with someone like povetkin after a gimme win. Regardless tho hes done himself proud overall. Its ashame he wasn't good enough...tbh he was never gonna be good enough...I think deep down he always knew that. Remember seeing his pro debut...even beating up a no hoper he looked like he was surprised he was winning. But in the end he gave it everything he had against povetkin. And for that he can retire happily after the turning his back on opponents escapades etc. They should set up easy wins for him tho. And see where it takes him. You never know where it can end up. But the fighting no hopers then going in with good guys needs to end. He needs to retire if that's the plan going forward.
Hughie would play his usual tag boxing. He wouldn't ko Price but the big man would fall in an exhausted heap after 6-7 rounds trying to catch the Running Man.
Quite simply Price should retire. I don't want to see his faculties affected down the line. That was a bad ko he took off Povetkin. Move away from boxing as he is an accident waiting to happen every time he steps in the ring.
Hughie would just have run like a thief for 6 rounds as Price punches fresh air. Then when Price is doubled over in exhaustion and ready to collapse, step in and knock him out. Price’s problem is he can’t do more 5-6 rounds. That’s a severe problem unless you are able to knock your opponent out before then. Hughie WTKO 7.
He looked alright in the 5th still but that's basically halfway through a fight. Doesn't indicate he wouldn't be properly blowing in the 6th, whereas Hughie can fight for 12 rounds. His disengagement with Parker is more to do with Fury's style than Parker's power, IMO. It's a fight I'd like to see but I think Fury wins a competitive but clear decision
It's a difficult one. When Price turned over, his flaws were no secret and I'd imagine a lot of people pictured his career panning out in similar fashion to Groves' or Khan's current ledger. Win some, lose some. Certainly a version of a world champion at some point. He lost his poise, compounded it with the Thompson rematch and duly spiralled. As though it made his psyche walk a tightrope, each subsequent loss lengthening the distance he'd have to travel to get back on solid ground. I feel like the Povetkin performance was as close to seeing him on the level since the days before Thompson II. That's a dangerous place to be. If he'd gotten flattened early and outright perhaps he could've called it a day without hindsight f/cking with him. I'd put Hughie Fury aside. He's underrated and perceives himself as being hard done by. Price doesn't need to be the vehicle used to reset his standing. It's also tricky when talking about domestic level fights. Joyce and Dubois are best left alone, Gorman too. A Sexton rematch makes no sense for someone prone to mental fragility. Excluding Sexton, he'd need a solid win before any of those fights should sound plausible. I'd prefer he retired but if he can't let it go and needs a challenge to focus his efforts, I'd look at Chisora or Allen.
