apologies if this has been done, iv not been posting so much recently....given peak brunos power, conditioning and the fact he was always in shape between fights as well as in the ring, how would he fare amongst the top guys from today, or say the last ten years...we keep saying the hw scene is its worst for years, but with the k bros and haye is it so bad..... that said, prime bruno vs the ageing brothers or the smaller, perhaps as vulnerable haye??..opinions cheers
I think he would have trouble with some of the taller bigger punchers, primarily the Klitschkos, but all these weak punching guys that cant do anything but box from the outside would be easily beaten by Bruno.
Bruno would be Bruno in any era. He would be carefully managed, knockout some old names like Ruiz or McCline, and cash out against the K brothers in losing efforts. Haye would duck him. At best, he avoids an embarressing upset or two, maybe captures an alphabet title at some point.
I don't think he beats the Klits but I'd favor him over Haye (although I'd say Haye would be a very live underdog). Think he could beat all the others.
Bruno in his prime would beat Haye & Vitali, but not Wlad. I note how peak Vitali was on ***** street & dropped in the 1st by Sanders as relevant. Plus, i speculate that if Bruno had Steward as his trainer instead of Wlad, then he'd win against him too.
Bruno was always limited. He had a great left hook and power, but eventually that weak chin of his would get hit and he would be knocked out. I love Frank's personality and he looks like a great guy, but his chin was his weakness, and not much mobility. He was too muscle bound.
i dont think it was his chin as such, it was his inability to think/act under fire...you never saw bruno sparked out like most fighters accused of being 'chinny' are....if he had learnt to hold, take a knee, whatever, his career could have been way different..... as i recall, he had a beautifyul jab too..could he outjab wlad??....and in my opinion wlad has a worse chin than frank...
Probably true, but Wlad has faster hands, comparable power, better stamina and a better technique, especially when under pressure. Bruno has nothing more than the proverbial 'punchers chance' against either Klitschko, though that chance is obviously greater against Wlad than Vitali.
Actually Brunos body seemed to freeze when he was hit cleanly. In all his KO losses you see the same exact defenseless facial expression which says oh ****!
under pressure? wlad clinches under pressure or backs up in a straight line like a clueless bum. he's incapable of doing anything else
Still better than leaning against the ropes with your arms by your sides and a glazed expression, which was Big Frank's Modus Operandi. EDIT - As LeftHook says, Frank froze when his bell was rung. Rather clinch, run or even taking a knee is preferable.
Bruno didn't spar enough, wasn't taught to clinch enough or taught infighting. So he froze when hit and hurt No Bruno didn't have a weak chin, he actually had a very good chin if you look at the punnishment he took from Tyson for 1 However in terms of boxing credentials he had an excellent jab that controlled most of his opponents including Lewis for a while. He had massive power and was a physical beast. In this era I can't see him beating Vitali who is too tough for him, Wlad probably wins but he has a live chance to KO punch and Wlad isn't having such an easy time outjabbing Bruno. Haye is a smarter fighter with more grit, that could go either way. As for the others Bruno can beat them all but, his losses came against big punchers and the division isn't really full of them
I think Bruno would be a marginal favourite versus Wlad and I think he would be a serious handful for Vitali until he tired. Needs a hail-mary to beat Vitali though.
