Prizefighter dead

Discussion in 'British Boxing Forum' started by ginger warrior, May 19, 2013.

  1. When is it going to finish? I admit the 1 with glen foot was good but other than that the last handful have been poor I have never been a lover of the short format as I love the ebb and flow of 12 round boxing but its massive plus is introducing fighters to us.due to prizefighter I have seen scores of fighters that you wouldn't see other than at a show or maybe boxnation When do you think it should finish Or more importantly when do you think Eddie will pull the plug(extra dates needed after all)

As much as we may dislike the format, it probably gets decent viewing figures, so it'll probably be around for a while yet.

Heavyweight PF is always an enjoyable watch. Last one had lots of knockouts.

    Yesterday's was ****ing appalling however.

Personally I think they need to make every addition an international version, but I guess that comes with added expense and makes the tickets harder to sell?

some of the fighters technique was like your average pub brawler

  7. Or maybe just a couple of year as I think there has been overkill Last nights was dull

Last night's Prizefighter was very bad, but most of them are a good night's entertainment, I love Prizefighter, sometimes the fights don't blend, but more often they do.

  9. they really need to scrap prizefighter and at least give hearn more dates or give hatton a couple

If it gives lesser known fighters exposure and decent money then may it long continue.

Most people are just snobby about it. Don't like it, don't watch it.

Glad I missed it. Prizefighter is only worth watching when it's a full-on freakshow. They should be looking to have guys like Butterbean and Toney in there instead of the domestic level CWs they had last night.

It's a terrible advert for the sport.

It does need to go, but Sky want a boxing event now and then which isn't always showing the promotional group (Matchroom) fighters they're working with. With the Prizefighter, casuals are a lot more likely to tune in as well, whereas shows that are billed for a particular fighter or fight have more of a reputation of probably leaning to people who are interested in the sport itself.

It's just a pot luck thing really. It's not like Matchroom can do much for it either as it's a random draw and if they started to select fighters for stylistic purposes, then it would just become unfair, and there's not going to be quality fighters entering because it's Prizefighter, and it's purpose is to see who comes out on top out of fighters who have just lost or are looking to redeem themselves or wish for an opportunity. Maybe they should try to be careful with the selection of fighters they decide to put into PF so they know that x fighter will hopefully give a good showing. Like last night, that fat **** McPhilbin looked like he went to McDonalds just before and wanted to go home and do a **** with the way he performed.

But again, McPhilbin has and normally looks like a guy who gives it a go, so it goes back to the pot luck thing of whether they turn up or not to give a show. Not much hope in terms of improvement, I just hope they try to do as little shows as possible.

It is ****ing ****, always has been apart from the first 18 months of it. People are bored of it, there's nothing new except for the 2k bonus which doesn't do ****. And for the people saying "don't like, don't watch" there's nothing else to ****ing watch!!!!
