Nope, that isn't what sociopaths do. A sociopath can be quite aware of the rules of society, and quite aware of the repercussions of breaking those rules. They can blend in with society because of this. However, where some people will feel guilt about breaking those rules, the sociopath will feel none. So the sociopath would not just keep bludgening a person to death in a boxing ring. They would also not risk their own lives. However, if they did kill someone in the ring, then they would feel no remorse. The term sociopath and psychopath are often used interchangeably. That is how I use them. Others differentiate between the two, defining sociopaths as those who do not integrate transparently into society, and psychopaths as those who do integrate well. So the psychopath would be your "charming killer" who may be married and holds down a good job (of course, not all psychopaths kill or feel the need to do so). The sociopath would be the weirdo loner. I don't buy into that distinction myself. A boxer who I suspect is likely to be a psychopath is Derek Chisora. Of course, there are obvious examples of his ear-biting and beating up his ex girlfriend. But that alone does not make him anything more than a thug. What makes him a psychopath is buried in other cues. For example, when confronted about his ear-biting, he said that it wasn't him. Psychopaths are the only kind of people who could tell such a blithe lie. Not only is there no remorse or acceptance of guilt, but he makes it worse by such an obvious lie - compounding his non-acceptance of social rules. A famous analogy is where a man stabs another, then claims he did not do it, "the knife killed him". You can also see from how Chisora didn't care for social or other rules when he broke non-disclosure conditions with the Klitschko contract. Having worked with psychopaths a fair bit, my alarm bells go off with Chisora. All the signals are there.

He just had a mental breakdown after getting out of rehab too quickly. He shouldn't have been in the ring anyway. Doctors had written letters to the commission stating that McCall was not mentally ready to compete yet.
Ayala is probably the closest and most recent example of a true psychopath. Ibeabuchi was, I believe, schitzophrenic which is even scarier when unmedicated. A sociopath, basically, is someone who has no empathy for other beings and feels very little emotion of any kind. They're simply not capable of it, but they can and do mimic emotional behavior. A psychopath is a sociopath who also exhibits dangerous, immoral behavior. Someone could be a sociopath and never really hurt anyone, except emotionally. A psychopath is gonna make some noise. Interestingly, there is a lot of evidence that a lot of race car drivers, jet pilots, police etc; people who are in insanely dangerous professions and in a lot of cases our 'heroes' have a very high concentration of sociopaths relative to the general public. At least, they exhibit a lot of the symptoms of sociopaths.
