BTW i barely train with gloves, but you can get a sparring partner and try this without gloves and then with gloves and see the effect on your hands. You can break your hand punching on someone elbow actually. Trained Kyokushin and when sparred we was looking not to block with the elbow, cause you can cause a serious injury to your opponent. But we also used technique to strengthen the shin both on the legs and arms. And it's exactly the guard/block position.
Bivol had great defense. He even managed to take away Canelo's body attack. With his long forearms, he could drop his elbows slightly and pick off Canelo's body shots. There was one in particular where Canelo loaded up on a right hook to the body and Bivol caught it with his elbow and Canelo shook his hand out after the shot like it hurt his right hand. Canelo all but gave up his body attack after that.
Yeah exactly. There is a very high chance that you can break your hand with punch to the elbow. Same with a kick that land on elbow. It's very dangerous, even with gloves. Bivol team has study Canelo well and he knows what to do perfectly.
When I saw this photo I could not help noticing the small old guy , while evryonee one looked at the camera, including both Reynosa's, this old fella was studying Canelo up close....very focussed & made me think Canelo was in for a tough nights work... https://www.bloodyelbow.com/2022/5/...-4-dmitry-bivol-174-6-make-weight-title-fight
Yeah look at Bivol trainer interview after the fight. The guy is very clever. This content is protected
Bar what others said: Oomph power punches make judges wet. It doesn't matter if he didn't land on the head. 115-113 my ass.
Bivol Canelo 2 will be like Fury Wilder 2 Can stop him late if he wants it. Canelo should just accept that it's a step too far.
No, it`s part of tyhe rules of boxing that a shot to tyhe body is a scoring shot, scoring shots on arms would render skill useless, you can`t miss arms and blocking would no longer be a form of defense, dumbest thread ever.
Yup, I noticed that too. Bivol caught a lot of Canelo's body shots on the elbow. Great anticipation and placement of the arms. Very smart defense and neutralized one of Canelo's main weapons.
