Proper technique for a regular pushup is hands flat on ground, shoulder width apart, legs and back straight like a board, then when doing the pushup its best to be looking up and make sure you chest touches the ground.
Only differences between flat and knuckle pushups is that knuckle pushups lifts you slightly higher off the ground increasing the range of the pushup and it strengths your knuckles.
Only thing I can think of for finger pushups is that it will strengthen your fingers, wrist, and forearms.

Knuckle pushups are better for your wrists, fact.

One of the things I find interesting about pushups is the variation in the angle of the arms people have. I dont have an opinion about whether it's better or not, but I prefer to do my pushups with hands shoulder width apart, and elbows in. Some guys do it with very flared elbows. I'm sure that it's having an effect on which muscles are recruited.

Yeah, doing it elbows in will use your upper chest more.

I do not see the point in doing anything other than explosive press ups.

yeah, in a sense, since you get muscle endurance from punching, jumping rope, etc.

Plyometric push ups with a clap in between would be an example.
