Steve Smoger told Amir Khan in round 4 of the Paulie fight 'push him off Amir push him off very good'. This was in response to Paulie leading head first and Khan had him in a lock of some sort.

Why did Smoger encourage pushing if Cooper took 2 points away?

Refs interpret fights differently and a fighter needs to adjust to that. Khan failed to do that with a rather fussy and biassed ref and paid the price. I can understand his frustration but someone should sit him down and make him watch Robin Reid vs Sven Otkke, and then tell him to quit his whingeing.

If the referee tells you to stop something listen to him...or you will be punished.

Pushing out of a clinch and shoving outwards to push away a guy who has his hands free on the inside against you are two different things, I think.
