due to jakes style of taking so much punishment(playing possum and such)and seemingly liking it would he fare well today against other fighters? for instance would most of his fights be stopped because he liked to let people beat on him? would they stop it too soon if he let hopkins bang away on him before he had the chance to come back and fight back? the question really is ..is would his style lead him to another championship today?or would he be just a contender whos fights get stopped to soon because he "likes to take unnessary punishment" in his own words.if so what style would he have to adapt to to become champ today?(sorry bout the confusion of this post i think faster than i type. lol)

Hard to be sure - I mean Jake sure wouldn't be able to "play possum" to the same degree, but there are degrees. Ali played possum in Zaire for example, and at no time was there any danger of that fight being stopped. You have to find ways to indicate you are still in the fight these days, whether by properly protecting yourself, firing back, whatever. LaMotta would have to tinker with his style, certainly.

For me, he would rule the current division with ease. Imagine the points he would pile up on the aggression? I don't think he would ever have beaten a prime Hopkins, but he certainly could have knocked the ageing version of his perch in a close fight.

Well, he would fight at smw today, I think, but same scenario.

Well the one area where the sport has unquestionably advanced, unfortuntatley, is weight making. This is due to the explosion in the vitamin and supplements market. Also, Jake would have more time to make the weight. He'd be middle, though might step up.

if most of the general concensus by most posters that lamotta would whip most of these fantasy matchups then why should he change his stye? and once again what type of style is he doing to? i dont see him dancing like a srr or ali

LaMotta would be a real force today.

Chin, stamina, and strength never go out of style.

I think he could possibly make 154 with modern nutrition and weigh-ins, too.

154? are you crazy he luckily made 155 for janiro and he was definitely in his prime. way too big a frame to support 154. barley made 160 for his title defense against robinson

The more than 24 hours you have to rehydrate before a fight would benefit LaMotta to no end. In an era where guys as small as Gatti routinely gain nearly 20 pounds between weigh in and fight LaMotta could conceivably make 154 and definately make 160 consistently and still be strong (much stronger than during his actual career) at that weight.

When Corrales and Clottey fought at welterweight they were both almost light heavyweights come fight night.

LaMotta could definitely make 154 with modern draining techniques and 24 hour weigh ins.
