What's the current thinking at your academy with regards to weight training for boxers? Is it utilised these days or frowned upon like back in the olden olden days

If anyone has anything in particular they'd like to hear about let me know. I can't promise anything but if its something that will interest alot of people I might be able to do something on it.

Lol, it's actually the topic of the next article. There are a number of reasons to do weights (rehab, injury prevention, speed/power, etc) and in the end it comes down to having a program designed to successfully fulfill whatever you are trying to achieve. I am a fan of weight training, for the right reasons, at the right period of fight prep. Unfortunately, too many people have tried weights before but followed the old 3 sets of 10 reps method (which is textbook bodybuilding training), and wondered why they put on muscle or slowed them down. Done correctly it can only improve the fighter.
