A very unlikely guess... Joe Hill??? Mick Canavan was around the same time... yet... I never heard mention of him sparring Fammo on 'TV Ringside'... Mick also had about 8 pro. fights...
Yes. Fighter Magazine actually had a contest for this question and I stole it from them, but I remember it well; the answer is Mick Canavan, who was on his comeback trail in 1967. Well done.
Mate... I had no idea he boxed in 64... must have been 17 or 18?? What a bloke!!! Sadly missed, very sadly missed.
He was with some other trainer in 1964, cannot remember his name; then suffered a gashed eye which infected his face. Then become a family man for a while. Then made a come back in 68, under the guidance of Ambrose Palmer. Mick was born in 1946
OK... whilst on the same avenue, Ambrose, Canavan, Young snr & jnr.... Another 'old man' made a comeback... for the sake of Leo Snr.. This 'comeback' was for the purpose of training Leo Jnr... This man had a good deal of training experience, having looked after a current 'world class' referee, whilst in his boxing days. Who is this 'old man'..??? Now deceased. And, who is the 'world class' referee???
part A. Correct. part B. partially correct...... thinking of another fighter that Cooper handled in the late '60s....
Who represented Australia at the Tokyo Olympics, and won an Australian title in his third professional bout.
When you said (Johnny) looked after, I thought you meant beat well.... then you changed the context by saying handled. did you mean that johnny trained a fighter that was later a world class ref?
Yes.. sorry mate... this man was tutored by Cooper in the 60's and early 70's.... later to become an official for the WBC...
"This man was tutored by Cooper in the 60s and early 70s....later to become an official for the WBC " (and a world class ref also........) I take it we are talking about a fellow Johnny trained or tutored to be a boxer? (When so much money is at stake Flamengo, you might need to proof read the questions.....(wink)) Malcolm Bulner?
