Strange, all the talk about quigg being so much fitter, yet frampton had it as easy as he possible wished for in the 1st 7 rounds

That's the thing: It's a Boxing match, not a fitness competition.

 

I definitely think Quigg could have got Frampton out of there had he put it on him early and in hindsight that was his only chance because the judges are always going to favour the more skilled fighter in most cases.

I think it would be a good rematch.

 

Game plan made zero sense. If the plan was to let carl tire, scott had to make carl work a lot harder over the first half

 

you cant sell a rematch as PPV

 

I don't think the gameplan was to let Frampton blow himself out, more like they were trying to get Frampton to over commit and walk onto something, and i think frampton was wary of that.

Quigg could have won the fight had he opened up earlier.

He was landing with the cleaner harder shots, but unfortunately threw too few of them in the first 6 rounds.

 

Fair point. Whatever the plan was it wasn't working, and Joe Gallagher must of knew that. Was way too late at the end of 7th to start "plan b" the fact that joe gallagher thought things were going well and quigg was nicking early rounds is unbelievable.

 

Aye gallagher got it badly wrong last nite. Used the same tactics before with success.

But last nite it wasnt the right game plan for frampton. Should of and could have bullied frampton out the fight. Should have been cagey first two. Then got down to work.

Gallagher tries to be too smart for his own good at times but at the same time one defeat doesnt suddenly make him a bad trainer.

 

Agree with all that, good trainer and deserves loads of credit. But last night was a terrible night for him. Quigg needed joe to tell him to step it up and do what he started in the eighth 3 or 4 rounds earlier. It's cost Scott massively in the biggest night of his career. Think they'll both regret the way the first 7 rounds were approached

 

Styles makes fights - Quigg struggles with outside fighters. Once Frampton inevitably slowed down, Quigg could then get close up to get his shots off.

He couldn't deal with Salinas until he quit throwing his long jab

 

The first 6/7 rounds were contested at such a slow pace I'm not sure carl slowing was a factor.

The work and especially the power shots to the body in rounds 8 to 11 from quigg were taking it out of carl. If Scott put it on him a few rounds earlier he had a great chance of grinding out a stoppage. Obviously we will never know for sure
