The WBO have ordered purse bids on this matchup. I’m a big fan of Catterall and believe he will go on to win a world title, he is potentially quality imo. Awkward, counter punching southpaw, another who pivots really well, throws feints and controls distance....but, I think this might be just be too much too soon for him. I just feel that he needed a couple more step up fights. Your Ohara Davies’s and Tyrone McKenna’s are not in the same league as Jose Ramirez who’s impressed me for a while. The way he starched Hooker was brutal. This fella is mustard.
Wow! The same as 20. I rate Catterall but this is a step too far/soon for him I’m afraid. Hopefully Frank can win the purse. Wouldn’t mind seeing Ramirez in action.
I don’t think Catterall will get any better than he is now personally- he must take the fight. I can only see him getting stopped though unfortunately. Hopefully Frank can get him a good deal with Arum (there’s zero chance of winning a purse bid) for him to get the shot over there.
Top rank will probably win it, but Frank will probably bid and at least get Catterall a good purse as to the OP, I think Ramirez is not as good as people think. Hooker had already lost to Darleys Perez in most people eyes, and Ramirez himself lost to Zepeda in most peoples eyes some scores from the RBR in General I still see it as a 60-40 in favor of Ramirez but Ramirez is beatable
It's not that Ramirez isn't as good as people think, he is. It's just that Zepeda is far better than people think he is. I said Zepeda would give him a ton of issues beforehand, and he did. The Flanagan loss was a weird freak arm injury fluke. I'd love to see him get a rematch, he'd comprehensively dominate Turbo Terry from start to finish, and I like Terry. So don't take anything too negative away from my score for that fight.
I was amateur team mates with Jack and I have probably sparred over a 1000 rounds with him (and lost nearly all of them) so would love him to do well here. It's not beyond him, Ramirez can be outboxed.
Think Ramirez smokes him. Cat is pretty decent but often not active enough, which Ramirez certainly is
Im not as sold on Jack as some seem to be. I'd have him as a solid euro level fighter but I would never pick him to pick up a strap, unless of course the division was incredibly weak but it certainly isn't at the moment. Ramirez would be too much for him.
I think Catterall is decent and could win a world title if the division was weaker but I couldn’t see him beating Ramírez. I don’t think he has the output necessary to beat a pressure fighter like Ramírez.
I'd favour Ramirez but I think Catterall has a better chance than Hooker, although Catterall only has one gear which will stop him getting to the very top. He is too safety first.
I don’t think Catterall has had to really step out of that one gear in 24 fights, he’s been quite comfortable but I think he’d have had more stoppages if he’d have put his foot down a bit. Ramirez has very quick feet and switches angles, I fear this may be a bit of a culture shock for Catterall. He will be forced to up his pace for this.
I've always wanted a bit more from Catterall, it will be good to see what he's got in a proper fight. He hasn't really had to up the pace like you say which is slightly worrying going into a fight like this.
Jack’s mentality is his strongest point, he’s a tough lad and doesn’t think anyone can beat him. In a fight he’s very calm, which is why he has lost rounds and people have thought he’s won’t step up gears, but could serve him well if he doesn’t worry about losing early rounds or a cut etc. Main issue has always been output, despite being very fit he’s never had to work too hard to win fights, which here he will, Hoping for an inspired performance where he boxes and moves for 12 rounds, Brook bs Porter
