Some people may swap Ortiz and Chavez.

Those names definitely have a 1st and 2nd tier which you have grouped them into correctly IMO.

    NO..

Duran, Chave and Ortiz are all top lightweights of all time. The others are not.

You are missing a lot. Do a little bit of research and you will find a ton more :good

so you dont consider floyd a top lightweight of alltime,, i agree, butr many people here consider him a top 3 at lightweight based on his wins against castillo in which he got a gift in the first fight

Why would a win over Castillo (and only 2 or 3 fights otherwise against lackluster opposition) make someone a top 3 LW of all time throughout the 120 some odd year history of the sport?

I think head to head, the others are right up there with the best. Mosley in particular was fantastic at lightweight.

But in terms of 'greatness', yes, they're not close.

I'd probably have Chavez slightly in front of Ortiz. The list needs some Whitaker, Leonard, Williams, Armstrong, Gans, Canzoneri etc.

Who are these many people? You need to stop listening to them mate.

Mayweather's lightweight days pale in comparison with so many fighters at the weight its not funny.

Castillo is a good name to have, even if he arguably lost the first bout. But when your best and really only significant opponant at lightweight probably wont go down inside the top 20-25 at the weight (and I used to think he was higher but a little bit of enlightenment opened my eyes) there is really no justification to be ranked anywhere near that high.

Chavez in front of Ortiz based on a win over Rosario? That puts him ahead of Ortiz's LW wins over Laguna, Brown, Ramos, Elorde, Lane, Torres, etc?
