Disappointed. Anyway, I have a feeling Jones' boxing (not overall striking) is ****. He's getting by because he utilizes his reach well and fighters are scared to throw. His reach is also the reason he can pull off the unorthodox stuff he throws and make it work. It's funny how he jumps up and does all this lame little things thinking he's some kind of super athlete. it's just his reach and of course, he has some talent. Once he moves up, he's no longer going to look that special, and fighters like JDS will not be scared to throw. He should stay at LHW if he wants to keep doing all the "superhuman" things.
I remember somewhere during the fight Joe said something along the lines of you could think Jones had a background in kickboxing but just before that he threw a double jab that looked real bad and some of his boxing skills didnt look to good but still he got the work done
For a tall guy, he gives up distance a little too easily. Those elbows look nice, but someone that actually knows how to box would take those opportunities to land some punches.
Let's not forget Jones is a wrestler. His striking is amazing for a wrestler as it's usually so horrible it makes me vomit. Jones best game is TD's and GNP. He just beat a top contender over 5 rounds using only his weakest skill set. That is impressive.
a guy like rampage, or shogun...maybe even machida, with their striking backgrounds, who tear him up....
