They have better personalities for dealing with people, and more crowd-pleasing styles.

I can see how you could think that. But honestly. This really is exactly what happened.
I was looking at the Cus D'Amato/Ali video, and I noticed the other video. I clicked on it, and I heard D'Amato talking about what makes a real boxer.
I rememebered someone supporting Corry Spinks, and used the term "Real boxing fans"
I didn't think of Floyd at the time.

Of course, but the thing is Floyd is more hated than Tyson on this board. I would think if it was only behavior there would be others hated more than Floyd.
When people hate his attitude so much. I cant help but think back to when Joe Louis wasn't allowed to smile after winning a fight.
If there are people that think Floyd is better that SRR, and I'm sure there are those that would argue that he is. Then why cant he himself think that? And if he does in fact believe it. Why can't he say it?

theres boxing = Shane, SRR, DLH, Kessler etc
Theres fighting = Chavez, Lacy, JLC etc
then theres running = Dirrell, Malagnagi, Casamayor

Then there are those that change it up FMJ for example boxed perfectly against Gatti . . . and flat out ran from Baldomir

I am a fan of fighting and boxing, I simply cannot stand running. Most fans dont like running.

No need. We;re just talking. I mean people fight wars, kill, and die because others dont share their beliefs. We're just debating boxing on a boxing board

If it's a matter of heart. I would say it takes more heart for a "feather fisted" as some of you guys say. Fighter to get in the ring knowing the other guy has the power to knock him out and he will have to use nothing but skill, and tallent to avoid that fate for 12 rounds than it does for a fighter that knows he can stand and trade, and can take what the other guy dishes knowing tha the other guy cant take what he can dish.

If anyone can look at Dirrel running for 12 shiitback rounds against Stevens and find any reason to defend that crap then god bless. . . but that kinda running sets boxing back every time one of these snoozers are televised.

I have yet to see Casamayor or Malignaggi run in fights. They always fight infront of their opponents make them miss and make them pay. They are fun to watch.

In the immortal words of DK. . . You sir suffer from myopia.

Casa ran from JLC for 12 snoozer rounds, Paulina runs in most her fights. (full disclosure - he didnt run from Cotto - gotta give credit for that)

Casa ran in round 12 when he was hurt. For the most part, it was an ugly fight on the inside. And, ive seen Malignaggi in 3 fights. In all of them, his been in front of his opponents making them miss and scoring. He throws numerous punches for a guy that runs.

It was a lot of good posts here but boxing is in perfection hitting without getting hit . With the emphasis on hitting first. You can win by rendering your opponent unconscious however you cannoy win by running for three minutes not hitting and not getting hit . In this sport its about engaging.Defense is highly important but in these days many rank defense above offense .To be a all time great or pound for pound there needs to be a perfect meshing of the two . If facing a p4p you should be worried about him hitting you as much as you would about being able to hit him.

I forgot he held alot too, holding and running are basically one in the same - both specifically designed to avoid actually fighting or boxing.

Pitter pat and run is still running in my book.

BTW, you can add Raheem to the list of runners as well.

Its no big secret that in general the guys that run, hold and avoid fighting for the most part are the guys that are difficult to market and get the smaller paydays.
