Hello. I thought up this great idea to aid me on my mission for more knowledge as far as the fight game is concerned. I'm thoroughly in love with the sport, but my knowledge is currently confined to post-war fighters it would seem. Not to say I know everything, or even that much, but if you could all recommend me a fighter to watch, read about, and discuss in the future - that would be of great service. Let's think classic, here.

Guys who I've become interested in are Lloyd Marshall, Holman Williams, and Charley Burley. Just like you my knowledge pre 50's is rather thin.

Joey Archer - fascinating featherfisted middleweight. The last man to beat - and fight - Sugar Ray. Also had wins over Dick Tiger and Hurricane Carter. Never lost a single match by more than a couple of rounds - and his four losses (one avenged) are to some pretty respectable names. The only fighter he fought but never beat was Emile Griffith and they went life and death for 30 rounds.

Good movement, good jab, could infight some, went in and out of a crouch effectively.

Addie, there's a 3 part documentary on Benny Lynch on YouTube that I'd suggest as vital viewing has some decent footage of Lynch in there as well as going a decent insight into just how good he was. Khaokor Galaxy-Sung Kil Moon 2 is a fight I always suggest to everyone, on YouTube and well worth a watch.
