Robert Smith's presiding over a debacle. The BBBOFC needs a new head and he needs to be armed with a broom.

I have a real problem with the Watson injuries being trotted out every time there is a **** poor stoppage... Nothing personal to you Westy

Watson's injuries were caused by a single uppercut that caused a knockdown and Watson's neck hit the middle rope that whipped his head forward. Watson was in complete control of that fight and was never in any sort of trouble up until that single punch landed.
The damage was done already, Watsons Corner were unaware, the referee was unaware of the internal injuries to Watsons brain.

If people make this case for "Better safe than sorry" and bring up Watson then Boxing should just be banned/stopped because nobody can predict if another single shot will ever do that sort of damage again.

Bringing up Watson to justify a terrible stoppage never makes sense to me...

It wasn't as bad as Vince McMahon at Survivor Series 1997 but it was getting there.

    Yeah...

The refereeing rulebook also states that you have to be extra vigilant in situations where the fighter's head bounces off the middle rope or when he falls hard on the canvas directly with his face/back of the head. Of course neither is applicable in the Groves stoppage, because he never went down!
