Hello, I am just wondering if anyone has real experience in doing different type of roadwork? I have a problem with knees and calf joints, so after slowly jogging for 5 - 10 km they do not feel nice, if I do it regularly over week. Rope jumping is ok, though. Any suggestions? Kind regards,
Cycling, swimming, increased rope skipping. I don't have ready access to a pool, so I like to cycle for cardio. Easy on the knees but it can be hard on the ass if you don't have a good seat on the bike depending on distance ridden.
Ive had the same problem, cycling, swimming, seem to work best for me. Do a lot more bag work/shadow boxing too.
Got something in my Shed, its a Big Shed. Its a Running machine, which when you use it, the Heart works 35% more efficiently, but it creates over same distance running over land or other Running machines, 30% more Lactic and something else, but cant say what until Final paper is published. Everyone Athlete that has used it over 6 weeks or more has improved their PB by a large amount. All done without Impact, think we might be on to something. Sports Science People, are getting Excited about it .
It's been several months I've had to deal with a knee injury as well. Can't do any road work. Fortunately, I can skip (25-40 mins.) and do sprints for short lengths, so that helps. Biking/cycling not even an option. I get pissed off with all the dudes blocking the roads, so I don't want to become one of them. Swimming is key. I never thought fish oil would work, but to my surprise, it does help reduce inflammation. It feels like there is less friction in the troubled joint. Maybe placebo effect, but I'll take any edge I can at this point.
I've started to do a bit of circuit training. 1 round skipping, 1 round shadow boxing (mixing up defense/head movement, different combos, footwork) then 1 round with 5kg weights (loads of reps) Cycling i normally do 8-10 miles with incorperated sprints, swimming just 30-40 lengths. Much prefer running but can;t do it atm with my knee hurting.
Love the hill sprints. A friend of mine lives in a tower block, runs up the stairs like a mother ****er! Ive had a few goes at it and its hardcore, love it!!!
Doing the floors on a tower block is so hard! I've done up to the 9th floor (out of a 13 floor block) before and i was done in big time.
