Or you can say at past his prime age he was twice robbed by a terrific fighter, already entering his own prime who had more marketability and far better promoters .. If Canelo is the best fighter of this generation and in his prime he really couldn't defeat a past prime GGG at his best weight then GGG deserves far more respect than folks like you that trivialize him give him..

Absolutely. A 28-year-old GGG vs a 28-year-old Canelo KO's Canelo and we wouldn't be talking about Canelo today. He would be dismissed as another "nobody" Golovkin dispensed of.

My thoughts are that your post is spot on and nothing needs adding.

When 'folks like you' start using words liked "robbed", the discussion falls over, right there. It is clear you want the rethinking of Golovkin to take your viewpoint on the results of the two Golovkin/Alvarez bouts into account.

Yes - and it is an "If", isn't it?

Canelo did defeat Golovkin. And, it is to the latter's detriment that he was unable to separate himself sufficiently, from an opponent, effectively moving up in weight class.

And, what makes you think Middleweight is Canelo's best weight?

Golovkin gets the respect he deserves - based on the quality of his performances, weighed against the quality of the opposition he faced.

Prime for prime GGG is the better fighter IMO.

Oscar had it rigged badly for Canelo though which is why I think Oscar should have his exhibition comeback against GGG.

Ggg is a good fighter probably hof but his fans built him into this unbeatable beast and he failed to deliver against canelo a guy he was expected to ktfo. I realized that he wasn't all that when he failed to dispatch chinny jacobs a guy pirog destroyed years earlier. Good fighter but not the second coming like his overzealous fans made him out to be.

Well, hey, while we're overestimating Canelo's standing in the pantheon, we may as well overstimate that of Golovkin, who is still yet to move up a single division. Sound thinking, it's not as if Triple Gee was overrated enough for five years or so.

"Fought everyone"? Not Pavlik, Sturm, Martinez, Cotto, Saunders, Andrade or Charlo. Not saying it's all his fault - some of them clearly ducked him - but he definitely hasn't fought everyone and only one top 5 guy since Canelo, and he (Dereveynchenko) ran him really close.

My bad - One Defeat; One Draw - Two failed attempts to beat Canelo.

Every living body he has fought is either a defeat (canelo), a blatant robbery (derevyanchenko) or a dubious victory (jacobs, I wont say robbery, I'll just say dubious victory....).

Hell will freeze before jacobs gets his more than well deserved rematch, btw.

What kind of legacy can you build festing on german tomatos and the likes of former welterweight ishida?. Right!, you got it, NONE.
