anyone know whats happened to this guy?? one of the most promising light-welters of recent years, hasnt been seen since he lost to kendal holt. he gave cotto a run for his money when they fought too, but has now gone on the missing list!!

Had one fight since in 2009. ****ing gutting....IMO he's better then Maidana. This guy picked his power punches with class. He gave Miguel all he could handle which shows his quality. He blitzed Holt really...and was so unlucky...sadly his career since that night should of been onto bigger things but with one swift clash of heads it went downhill.

Apparently there was a Dan Rafael article back in May 2010 saying that Torres had retired?

He is finished. Retired. That Holt headbutt finished him apparently. He would have been great in this division right now. He could punch alright

The journeyman he fought after Holt had him on ***** street numerous times.

Essentially his chin failed him. Shame.

Pity he retired so young. He could have been in some deserved decent money fights if he hadn't.

Think it was the weight more than anything. He used to really murder himself getting down to 140 think i remember reading that he used to walk around at a huge weight.

His fight with Cotto was a cracking watch wouldn't mind seeing him in with the fighters in division now. would of been exciting at least.

They mentioned that he had retired, after the Holt fight on the bradley undercard.

before the Cotto fight he was untested but did have a rep for for huge punching power.

Cotto on the other hand was simply training just to make weight, great fight all the same.

He was one of the best ten stone punchers I've seen in a while. Despite the HUGE controversy surrounding both of their fights, his two fights with Kendell Hilt were awesome viewing. The headbutt ****ed him, but that was too vulnerable bangers going at it, their 2nd fight is a classic shootout.

A fighter with solid skills would always muller him, let's be real.

Exciting to watch, but seriously flawed :yep

Hmm, interesting statement by Mandanda. :think I don't know that he's better all-around than Maidana...but h2h, with Maidana's more or less equal ability to be caught cleanly and hurt and/or dropped (Ortiz, Corley and Khan all got to him to varying degrees) it certainly wouldn't surprise me if Torres scored a few quick knockout wins out of 10 or so meetings if he managed to make a shootout of it.

Torres gets him out very early or Maidana breaks him down and stops him five or so rounds. Would be a spectacular gunfight, no doubt. Maidana is an awkward force, Torres is a pretty straightforward banger, although a pretty swift combination puncher in all respects.
