Does this guy get on anyone else's tits? If I was a fighter and he was reffing one of my bouts I'd probably end up telling him to "f**k off!!" halfway through fighting, he seems to think it's his show in the ring and his screaming and shouting drive me nuts, he slaps fighters on the arms and pushes them whilst they're working on the inside and just gets way too involved in it for me, a sign of a good referee is when you don't know he's there. Anyone agree ?
I happen to think he is one of our better ref's, then again thats like saying your the slimmest person at fat club.
He's a Mike Dean type of ref, Camera's are on and he's gotta get in on it. He's taken his role as a no nonsense ref a bit to far for my liking of late and seems to wanna show it. To much of it, 5-8 years ago he was top class but dunno i'm like you he annoys me. Still a good ref but all the stopping fighters to bollock them for 10-15 seconds when it's a minor to me is boring and not needed.
He's a decent referee, very good by British standards. Pretty accurate with the scores too. The only thing that does my head in is that sometimes he likes to be the centre of attention - but at least in his case it's by bollocking someone rather than an awful stoppage or a dodgy 114-114 card in a shutout.
