Ricky Burns

I would like to see the Lewis Ritson fight tbh, both have dispatched Cardle pretty easily and Ricky imo looked slightly better doing so. Both are above British level at the minute and would be a cracking fight

 

I would favour Burns against Ritson.

 

The thing with Ricky is, you can't let him get his jab or straight right starting to find a target.

If you do, then he will look fantastic.

Take away his jab and he will struggle, that's why he tends to blow hot and cold, everything with him comes off his jab.

I wish he would stop throwing the looping right in a downward trajectory though, he always seems to miss or fall short with it.

Before Ritson lost I thought Burns would of been a very tough fight for him, as he's absolutely solid and is one of the fittest guys around. Certainly hits well to the body and he's a massive lightweight.

 

I'd like to see him in against Patera you know, think that would be a decent scrap and picks him up the european?

Might sound daft but European won't be big enough for ricky.

He will be looking for "the big fights" at his age with most money and is the chance to lose for a European belt worth it?

 

I see where your coming from but he would make more money for the European than he did on Saturday against Cardle and the prize after winning would be greater ie shot at another world title.

 

That's exactly my thinking, if he beats Patera and gets the European, he is at worse one more fight away from a world title and it should push him up the rankings if he beat Patera.

They need to build Ritson properly - this time last year he was barely on the British scene. The way he smashed through every opponent en route to winning the British outright inside what 4(?) rounds in total was unreal. But as we seen in his last fight, he still has a lot to learn.

The lad has a lot to offer and along with Josh Kelly is Eddie's key to the North East.

Too early to put him in with Burns, who showed on the weekend that he is still way beyond British level. Too much experience for Ritson…. big at the weight, solid as they come so won't get bombed out early and can pace 12 rounds all day long.

 

At his age and with only a few more fights could see him goin and winning the European belt then if Josh Taylor wins super series couod see him vs Ricky as a voluntary defence up in Scotland

 

I feel stupid for thinking Burns had declined so much that the Cardle fight would be close. He showed he’s still got that class and a lot still to offer. The knockout was devastatingly beautiful.

 

Although I agree with you on Ritson it is hard to match him at the minute, he is clearly above the British level guys and although he fell short for the European I actually believe it was more down to Lewis having too much camps in a short space of time. I know he wasn't taking punishment in these fights but preparing for all those 12 rounders in a short space of time would leave you jaded.

I honestly think that the Ricky Burns fight would be a good one and Lewis wouldn't be out of his depth but maybe a nice little break and then a rematch with lad for European might be on the cards for Lewis.

 

Really hope not, Ricky isn't a 140lb fighter and Josh is massive at the weight
