Am I abnormal in the fact that my right hook is the punch I throw most naturally/regularly and also the most powerful punch in my arsenal?

I've always had oddities when it comes to my hands and arms. For example I throw with my right hand (as in throwing an object) but draw/write with my left hand. My left hook is weak and slow but my left jab is fast. (Really, my left hook is poor and I barely use it exept to set up punches) I fight orthodox but am comfortable southpaw aswell, exept when southpaw my left arm does very little exept parry jabs.

So apart from the left jab everything I do is with the right arm. The power in the right hand doubles the left atleast.

I should be boxing orthodox right? I can throw straight lefts while southpaw alright but when it comes to winging a shot such as an overhand or hook it's futile.

Could I use mainly the right hook from an orthodox stance in professional boxing and get away with it??

How are you at dropping down and digging that right hook to the body from a conventional stance. That punch, if thrown right and at the right time is one of the most devastating punches you can throw. :deal

Good I'm glad. I like being different :-]

What I feel is my most powerful shot ^ the right uppercut is also one i've found to be effective.

Do most people have more power in the right hook than the left?

It's not gonna be so "cool" when you throw a right hook from a conventional stance carelessly and get countered into Bolivian :deal

I also write with me left hand but use my right for everything else. You're left hook is poor because of you're technique I'd say, there's no reason it should naturally be rubbish if you're left jab is decent.

If you get you're technique sorted, then there's no reason you're straight right hand shouldn't be as good as you're right hook. It's a more safe and orthodox punch than a right hook aswell.

Hehe I like getting hit in the face anyway. I'm kinda like Antonio Margarito in my style, I got very little head movement. I like to take what my opponent gives me; I feel it completely demoralises them when you take their best combo and you call them a ***** afterwards haha. :happy

Nah it feels proper uncomfortable when I throw it like. I'm not a novice or anything I know the proper technique and all that. You know when you're shadowboxing and you get the pop on the upercuts? You know the kinda jerk you get when you throw em slow to warm up? I have difficulty getting that pop on my left arm whereas on my right it comes naturally everytime. :think

    Yes.

Develop your left hook. Best punch for a right handed stance.

You should try to start your move with the left and end it with the left. This way you can jab at the end of your combo and then retreat/pivot whatever then you'll be set up more naturally for your next attack.

Throwing the right hook from an othodox stance is not to conventional, it also depends on your stance if you are square on so to speak or more sideways. When someone throws a right hook it needs to be more wider leaving you open for there left hook or jab, because your right hand is your main hand that you an othodox fighter uses.
