With rumours Broner might jump ship from Goldenboy, this fight could become a real possibility.

Think its a great fight style wise and the build up would be immense.

    Break it down for me?

Broner hasn't got the feet to stay out of trouble and I'll give Rios' chin the benefit if the doubt.

Rios has the size to contend with Broner.

    Rios via violent drubbing.

It would certainly be a tough fight for Broner. Rios is crude, but not as crude as some think. He can use his jab to get in position and his marauding aggression would be difficult for Broner to offset.

I'll need to think this one over. But I think it's telling GBP and Haymon were looking for Paulie at 147 rather than sitting in one of the sport's most competitive divisions at 140.

I do think the way to beat Broner is to keep him chasing you.

Paulie isn't good enough to do that of course.

Would be an entertaining fight. Broner would still be big at 140 I think, and I don't see Rios bullying him. I don't see either fighter really taking a backwards step in this one. Broner would happily fight Rios on the inside, and he's very good there. Rios would keep getting countered and eating vicious uppercuts till the ref stops the fight. I'm not saying Broner is James Toney, but he's more than slick enough to deal with someone like Rios who gets hit way too easily. Only way I see Rios winning is with his size, but like I said, I don't think Broner would be a small 140 pounder. Only Rios' heart/toughness keep him in this fight. Rios is the type of guy Broner would look very good against.

I don't think Broner is 'slick' in the slightest mate. Your Toney comparison is a brilliant one.

I actually think Rios also has good application for his style, but as I said earlier I'm giving his chin the benefit of the doubt. Your appraisal is perfectly feasible as well.

Broner has never shared the ring with a puncher, Rios would put relentless pressure on him and it will be interesting how Broner deals with that, like Flea says he doesn't have the footwork to maneuver Rios.

GBP understandably are keeping him away from the 140 division, because Matthysse would execute him.

Flea, interested to hear your thoughts on Broner. Apart from his footwork which is an obvious area to work on, what would you say his strengths/weaknesses are? and what do you think about the comparisons people make to Mayweather?

I edge slightly towards Broner. I think the fight would be in the pocket and i think Broner's uppercut vs Rios left hook is the key punches of the fight. I believe Rios has issues in getting around the shoulder especially when the fighter leans back on it. He also dips the head down and squares up inside in which leaves him open to uppercuts but most fighters don't throw because either there not got the confidence or there scared he will clobber them with a left hook or right hands.

I think Broner throws it with quality, regularity and would land a lot. I believe Rios would have success working around the sides then over the top with looping right hands but would have to be careful because i feel Broner would follow Abril's plan of clinching to nullify the work of Rios inside. Rios would need to throw the left hook with more leverage and let it go a little longer which i think he could. I think if Rios fights a quick fight with quick set ups and differing punches (loop/hook/straight/uppercut) he would worry Broner big time as well as stepping around with quick feet. He sadly doesn't do enough of that for me, He stays right there dead centre and when you fight the shoulder you got to knock it off balance then step around and work the angles.

I think Broner's body punching against a guy who defends the central area is another weakness in this bout for Rios. Don't get me wrong Bam Bam can be cute at times with little subtle moves but then he can be crude and one dimensional and that dimension gets beaten by someone with skill and for the overhyping Broner gets he's still a skilled fighter with strength.

I think what Rios would rely on is Broner a mental midget? and if he is a dogfight breaks him and breaks his career. If Broner's the real deal a real fighter a born superstar of this fine sport he wins.

Great fight but Broner takes it for me on a UD. Rios having some exciting moments but Broner sees them out with clinches and mauling.

I think Lucas wins, For all the power people don't see the set ups and the ability he has to set them big punches up. He's actually light on feet, He's a thinker and he's got variation and he's not small so he'd really ruffle the feathers of Broner.

I think he's not quick but quick enough to exploit lapses from Adrien. Changes levels well as well and doesn't make the sort of silly basic mistakes that these lesser pressure fighters make. He throws some really powerful yet quick lead punches from range he's got longish arms.

Good offensively going forward, can't fight going back, shocking footwork, defensively porous (the Floyd shell is horrible) and I think he needs to find his own style.

Massively overrated (considering what he's actually done thus far) but talented and fun to watch.

I think Broner would stop him Broners very strong and very fast and Rios would get hit a lot only way i could see Rios winning is by stoppage. It would be a great fight though 2 bullies having a scrap on the inside

The only thing Broner has going for him is his offensive work. He puts together punches well, he hits hard, he's got fast hands etc., but defensively, he is poor for someone who wants to fight with a shell. The same flaws which should have cost him against Ponce De Leon are still there and even against Rees in his most recent fight, Broner was taking flush shots to the chin and if Rees had more power, it would have been interesting. I don't buy the argument that Broner was just complacent against Rees either, I think he has major problems defensively and that's something a fighter like Rios would test.

My gut feeling is that Rios would stop Broner in about 8 or 9 rounds. I think he's too strong, hits too hard and Broner is not good enough defensively to stop the barrage from Rios. I think Broner would have moments where he lands his own flush shots, gets the crowd on their feet, but they'd be limited whereas Rios would methodically put a beating on Broner in every round.

Rios’ success will depend a lot on his positioning. If he can take advantage of Broner’s **** footwork and not be overly reliant on his left hook upstairs (because it’ll be blocked a lot), and properly utilise his power jab (which is a very underappreciated weapon of his), then I think Broner may struggle to keep him off. We need to remember that in all of Broner’s fights, he’s the one who’s being enjoying the size/power advantages. He’s a bully, essentially. And bullies don’t like it when they’re challenged by other bullies, and I reckon Rios would give him hell. I also don’t think Broner has the physical strength or astuteness (like Abril) to tie him up on the inside. Instead, he’ll get involved in too many direct exchanges like he was doing against Demarco. That’s not something you can afford to do against a dog like Rios.

Would be a great fight, but I’m leaning towards Bam Bam.
