Hmm, that's interesting. And what is the the exact cause of death in those cases?

Another young member of our boxing family tragically passes away. My thoughts & prayers are with his family.
    R I P Dwight
Boxing is a dangerous sport a fighter puts his life on the line every time he enters the ring for our entertainment. Which is why something has to be done to stop the Ped's abuse.which only makes the risks greater

Commotio cordis, it happens in boxing too. I just remembered some child died getting hot in the chest from a baseball near my old neighborhood

The body punch might not have been related. He might have been hit in the head previously and that is where the injury was. RIP This is tragic to hear about.

Yeah, the body punch just being a coincidence and happening to be the last shot he took before going to his corner makes the most sense. It was probably a delayed reaction from accumulation of head shots. I can't imagine how viciously hard Zerafa would have needed to catch him to explode an internal organ upon impact.

I agree. If it was anything in the body it could be a torn aorta or something like that which was created by the shock of the punch against the organs but very unlikely. I remember how Gerald McClelland had a delayed reaction to what was happening. It is very sad. So young.

More details are needed (will require an elaborate autopsy & review of the footage if any)...these can be the possible scenarios:

    1. He absorbed the fatal blow to the head earlier, the body shot dropped him & his brain didn't recover
    2. He absorbed the fatal blow to the head earlier, he collapsed due to concussion not the body shot
    3. The body shot obstructed his breathing & he couldn't recover (Brain didn't get Oxygen)
    4. He was sparring with an unhealed injury (ribs, bruised lungs or other organs)

That probably has something to do with it but crazy how nothing happened to him in more than 20 pro fights and I assume more amatuer fights. If I remember correctly Ritchie turned pro illegally at 17 so his first 5 wins were changed to no contest because you can’t turn pro in Australia until you are 18.
