My uncle passed away last night. This forum is the close one to my heart. My uncle joe got me into boxing we watched so many big fights together. He loved Chavez,Sanchez,Leonard,Chacon,Tyson,Norris and so many more. I will forever miss watching the fights with my Tio. I will tell you some stories about my uncle soon. He had such a great heart and soul.

When i was a kid he use to match me up with all the other tuff ones in the hood. He was a badass himself could have been a hell of LW if he kept it up., Prayers for my uncle JOE:bbb:bbb:bbb

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. It doesn't matter how old someone is when they pass, it still hurts.

I have given over 200 Eulogy's for boxing people all over New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, including Joey Giardello and Autro Gatti, and at the end I ring the bell in celebration of the life they led, BUT unlike everyone else that rings it 10 times, I only ring it 9. The reason is that if I rung it 10 times, that would mean people like your uncle would no longer be with us, But that is not true. A small part of him will live on in the hearts of yourself and all the rest of his loved ones and friends.

Some day, years from now, if not already, you might become a grandparent, and when that day comes, I want you to gather all your kids and grand-kids along with all your other loved ones around you, and say, kids, I want to tell you a story, a story about a Great man, his name was Joe Chavez, and he was MY UNCLE. This way, he continues to live on, even after your gone.

Now your uncle is walking up the stairs to the pearly gates of heaven and he is presented with the only true reward that counts in the end. It will be a Championship Belt that simply says, Joe Chavez, "Eternal Life."

May his soul rest in peace!

Your uncle had great taste in fighters. We should all be so lucky to get an education like that. Gutted for you.

Sorry for the loss...Felt the same way with my Dad & Uncles. used to have a packed house on big fight nights, & always talking about boxing. They're gone now, but the memories are golden...

My thoughts are with you tough guy.

The memories are the crucial thing that you take away when sombody dies, and they will always be something rather special.
