A truly great fighter, a testimony to mind over matter in fighting, as brilliant as anyone who has ever boxed basically. As long as there is boxing, he will be remembered.

A few interesting facts about Canto: He lost his debut, by KO no less. He was 1-2 after three fights and 3-2-1 after six. After an 8-3-2 start, he went nearly three years before losing again with a 25-fight unbeaten streak (one draw along the way). He went 15-2-1 in world title fights, and 11 of those took place outside of his native Mexico. He participated in championship fights in the U.S., Japan, Venezuela, Chile and South Korea. In 74 fights, he had only 15 KO wins. He relied on skill rather than power to establish himself as one of the ATG flyweights. RIP, Miguel.
Really sad to see a legend leave us. Called my dad to tell him the news - Canto was one of his favorites when he was younger. Easily one of the finest pure boxers I've ever seen. "Genius" gets thrown around a bit too much when describing fighters, but he was a true genius. Going to watch the Avelar fight tonight to pay tribute.
