Just found this out over at the General.

Apparently a film is being made about former Featherweight Howard Winstone. Erik Morales is also starring, he's playing the role as Vicente Saldivar. :huh

 

Good find. RIP Winstone.

 

Winstone seems an odd fighter to make a film about.At least if they are going for a cinderalla man/hurricane/raging bull kind of thing.Other than overcoming the ruined right hand, he doesn't seem to have an obvious story outside of the ring.

I hope the second saldivar fight isn't portrayed as a bad robbery ala giardello carter(which no you old romantics was not a wide easy win for Joey either).

That's Enzo Maccarenelli at 1.51.

 

That is Enzo I knew he looked familiar. He shall play Eddie Avoth, former British & Commonwealth lightheavyweight champion who fought out of the same gym as Winstone. Avoth himself will play as Jack Solomons. Oddly Leon Spinks & Tim Witherspoon will appear in this film too but as bouncers.

 

Tell me about it. Even in the first fight the decision was booed by the crowd.

The quality of the film, and the acting. Its pretty bad

I thought the first fight was in London? I know the second was in Wales & the third fight was in Mexico City and that was decisively won by Salvidar.

 

Was it? I always thought the first 2 bouts were in Wales :think

A family friend was winstones sparring partner for his 3 fights with salvidar. Will ask him what he thinks

 

That film looks terrible.
