Could he grab a title at CW at this stage in his career or is he too shot?

nah it's not that rjj is totally shot (IMO anyway just a little), but he won't handle big punchers at this stage. he can now be caught a lot more than a few years ago and he doesn't respond well these days to being hit hard. I'm not saying that RJJ should continue, but if he does I think he's planning on going about it the right way: stay at 175, fight other 175 lbers, and try and earn a shot through a couple of good performances (which i know will be difficult). I think he can beat woods at this stage (and perhaps a couple of other 'contenders' ) so a title fight is not out of the question.

he was repeatedly getting stunned by Calzaghe so i would doubt his chin would last with even the weakest puncher in the division

Lets hope Giacobbe Fragomeni wins... That would be Roy's best shot....

i honestly believe that he still could have a shot at a CW title the thing that would hold him back as everyone has stated is that shitty chin of his..if he would let his hands go he still has enough speed to give some of the CW'S trouble..but in the end i see him falling short

A title yes, im sure you could find some alphabet holder out there RJJ could beat, he wouldnt be able to beat the best champ or unify the belts or anything like that. The moving up would work 2 ways, yes he'd face harder punches, but he'd also face a little slower guys at the higher weights, so that might help me avoid punches.

Those guys at cruiser will not touch Roy much. He could win a title there. The problem is what does it mean at thsi stage. Thing about Roy is the more he fights, the more he proves he was a decent enough fighter when Tarver and Johnson beat him. Say he does win the light heavyweight title again. That means a Jones who could win the title over Dawson was beaten by Calzaghe. Brings Calzaghe's stock up a lot and makes it look like a still good Jones was not good enough to beat Calzaghe.

Im sorry but no. He is shot beyond belief and his next fight will doubt prove that. Plus he has to move up at least 20lbs and fight way bigger guys. there is a serious safety risk if he decides to try cruiser

He could win a world title belt at CW but he'd probably have to be picky about opponents.

How different would Roy picking his opponents from what he did his whole career? He is the fighter most like Floyd Mayweather, only he is much more of a warrior than Floyd. Which is not saying that much. Roy knows he has to end his career with more wins to be remembered really well. His skills were great and he does have wins which Floyd does not have. He beat Toney and Hill and Hopkins. Floyd does not have that level on his resume who were near prime.

I don't see why not. People are exaggerating his decline slightly because they can't stand the fact Calzaghe beat him so badly when they can't bring themselves to rate Calzaghe. Against Trinidad, Roy looked pretty good.

Of course, he ain't as good as he used to be, but he's still better than 90% of fighters out there.

I guess we'll know for sure after his next fight how good he still is, but for now I'll say he has every chance of getting a title at Cruiserweight - if he has all ready made the decision to fight on, then why not have something to aim for and give it a go?
