Robinson vs. Greb

For the title of second greatest middleweight. My pick is Robinson on points in his greatest career performance.

 

It could go both ways.... i would give the edge to Greb, though.

For stylistic reasons. LaMotta was also a come-forward fighter who liked to rough you up and despite Robinson being a much greater fighter, they had very close fights. Although we have no film of Greb in his prime, it should go without saying that Greb is better than LaMotta and Robinson was a natural WW; far from unbeatable at middleweight.

 

Why should it go without saying that Greb is better than Lamotta, when there is no footage to consider? I seem to be the only person on this site that has a real problem judging fighters that I have not seen. The footage of Greb on you tube makes the man look like a total joke to boxing.

Having said that I don't rate Lamotta that highly but he was a good fighter that beat Robinson - so he was no whipping boy.

 

I hate discussing Greb. There is no footage. I rank him high because of his accomplishments, but H2H is too hard..

That being said.. Robinson KO 1.

 

I like Robbo here on his best 160 night, his slashing speed would hold him in good stead, the man could mix it up quite well and often did. Greb doesn't have the power to take him out, Robinson via decision in a barn stormer.

Not behind Monzon but behind Hagler. Monzon was too slow. Monzon would have whipped Hagler in the late 70's but by Hagler's second year as champ, Marvin was clearly the superior performer. Hagler isn't the only one he takes a back seat to. I have him behind Hagler, Robinson, Greb, Walker, Cerdan, and Jones.

Even though Hector is to be admired for his demolition of Leonard, that alone does not qualify him as a top middleweight. I have high standards.

 

SRR was a great but he lost to Turpin, Basilio,Fulmer, at middleweight, so I have to give Greb the edge but out of 5 fights, SRR could take 2
