    Thanks for the reply.

Part of the reason Ali was hitting Cooper at will was probably due to Henry having impaired vision from the severe bleeding he'd sustained. (Of course he'd been cut in the first place by being hit, not butted.) Yes, Cooper certainly had issues with the way Patterson was attacking him, but it's also impressive to me that Floyd did this when Sir Henry's eyesight was not compromised. (Cooper didn't really have a world class chin, like fellow bleeder Wepner. Take away the cuts, and he remains rather limited.)

Agreed, but Ali really opened him up with the 5th round attack. I always found Patterson's performance over Cooper more impressive than Ali's though, Johansson's too. The second time around Ali was very cautious with Cooper and did not impress.

Cooper could have been a top class light heavyweight had he tried making the weight. According to him, he used to put weights in his pockets to appear heavier at weigh-ins.

Patterson was devastating against men of his size.

Robinson has NO chance. Yes, if the 52-53 Floyd had fought Ray? Maybe a fairly even weight breakout, but Floyd was still bigger boned. And, Floyd's ideal weight was not 175 (I get sick of people saying he should have stayed at that weight, he couldn't, he was a natural 188-190 once he filled out)
I assume the 'discussions' on this fight were around 57-ish? Floyd was already high 80's; if that fight had happened it may well have tarnished the greatest fighter of all-time's legacy and its good that it didn't happen.
I'm tired of this ''what if'' crap in trying to push HOF'ers into the next weight class...Monzon-Foster for example, many others :tired
    Give it a break.....

I agree with you about matching great fighters out if their prime divisions...It demeans their legacy...Silly to boot also...
