if it would have ever happened. who wins why and how? ill take williams but actually see srr pulling out the win. i just dont know that much bout williams except that on this board everyone says and has shown some footage of what they call a monster. he is impressive to watch but not as fluid as the great srr who could do it all.
Robinson would never have murdered Williams, just like (contrary to ****ed up belief) Spinks wouldn't have murdered Hagler, however, Williams would be in with a man who was, being naturally heavier, slightly better in every single category. Robinson would still be wary of Williams' power and wouldn't even think about smoking him early. 12-3 or 11-4 Robinson.
I think a prime Williams against a pre-prime, inexperienced Robinson at his lightest weight would see Williams prevail. Once Robinson has aquired top-notch experience and hit his prime ... see Manassa´s post. Robinson is just better in everything and the bigger man. I think he would stop Williams late.
S, simple answer to a fantasy fight between Ray Robinson and Ike Williams, both who I saw ringside in their primes...Ike Williams answered this question himself, I recall when he was quoted as saying,"what chance would i have against Ray Robinson, when he does everything better than I do"! And Ike knew his limitations, for sure ...
Robinson is indeed the bigger, stronger and overall more skilled man. Still, Ike has immense talent and power of his own that Ray couldn't just dismiss. In a sense, I've always thought of Ike Williams as a smaller version of SRR. A great fight for sure, but I too believe Robinson takes this one late, either by UD or late stoppage.
