    Probably should pin this one to the top of the board.

    Reminisce but please keep it to a couple anecdotes at a time so that everyone has space.

    He showed true greatness against Tyrell Biggs.

    The man who stepped in the Bath & West Country Showground in Shepton Mallet to do battle with Frank Bruno was a shadow of his former self.

    For people not familiar with that town in the English county of Somerset ;

    A journeyman but not a bad one. Unbeaten in his first 17 fights.. Scored a first round KO over the giant Simuwelu.. Was only beaten primarily by top flight heavyweights and may even have been robbed against one of them ( Joe Hipp. ) Not a man ever destined for greatness, but certainly a respectable opponent who could punch and wasn't afraid to bang with the big boys.

    Hipp dominated that night. He was magical.

    Have you seen the Bruno fight?

    Boxrec has Rodolfo Marin's height listed as 6'6
    I think his huge reputation has inflated that a bit.

    :goodA feat only the ATGs Lennox Lewis and Dave Jaco had managed before.

    My mistake then, although I've never recalled Hipp looking magical.

    Yeah I just watched it, complements of the person who provided the link on this thread. Great performance for Bruno.. But I don't think that should take anything away from Marin who regularly fought upper tier men and sometimes gave a good account of himself in defeat.

    Jaco also beat a young prospecting Ruddock and fought about 90% of the best heavyweights around over a period of 10 years. Not someone I'd personally want to lose to if I was professional but not a surprising upset either.

    Jaco Appreciation Thread on its way. He fought tons of upper tier guys.

    I believe Dave's kids also turned pro briefly.

    He was a decent prospect too before Cooper nearly killed him.
