I wish I had more footage, but oh well, I did my best.
watch this and tell me lyle wasn't a bad ass and wouldn't be a major contender in todays division

Great work, Tommy. Loved the music for the Foreman fight. Worked nicely.

You're not really that little lad in the pictures thread?

Great tribute, I don't understand why you chose to put in the moment where he gets crushed by Cooney way past his prime. That's like showing Ali a tribute of his greatest work up until the FOTC and then finishing the tribute with Ali getting decked by Frazier. Other then that, you've pieced together some great material. Especially from the rare Shavers-Lyle match up that shows up on YouTube in various forms from time to time.

What amazes me is that Lyle was roughly the same age as Ali. This means the man spent his youth in jail only to come roaring out into the heavyweight boxing scene. I also love how when people talk about his amateur career in retrospect saying, "It was like a grown man beating up children". That's essentially the Soviet Russian and Cuban boxing programs in a nutshell (now it's just Cuba, but with all the defections I can imagine they're finally getting young).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he's older than Ali.

Yup, you're right. Ron Lyle was born Feb 12th 1941 and Muhammad Ali was born Jan 17th 1942. Almost a whole year.

I think if someone compared their timelines with their lives and career (meaning that includes not just boxing, but what happened during their off times) the parallels would be interesting to look at.
