This is an interesting one, the fight was taken at 2 days notice by Burkinshaw.Who it has to be said is in fantastic shape, however no denying it is a 'must win' for Ross, he's been in some routine wins over the last 12 - 18months with new trainer Ryan Rhodes.I like the guy, think he's been a little unlucky in his losses and has a massive work rate, un questionable talent & now seemingly the right people around him (Rhodes, Woodhouse & Hobson)No question he's up against it in Cunnigham though, 12 - 0 (4) who'll fancy his chances at the win. Burkinshaw late stoppage for me!
I know Ross personally and I can assure you that, win or lose, he will leave his heart and soul in the ring. His professional career has been a ****tail of bad management, bad fights at bad times and horrible injuries. This is his world title fight and it means the world to him. Ross deserves a bit of good luck and I wholeheartedly hope that he pulls it off.
Im off to this fight tomo and would really like r.b to win but its going to be a real tough fight. I was well happy when i found out he was the replacement .
Could not agree more myself mate!! He's given me a bit of advice myself mate over turning Pro' whilst still serving & from the little I know of him he's a diamond of a fella And all being well he'll get the win & get himself a few more wins then thoroughly back in the British domestic scene - I'd go as far as saying I've never willed on a fella as much! I'd be there but I'm at the Blackburn show urging Blackledge on, another hard working cracking lad.
True, but it's also worth noting whenever he's stepped up it has been at short notice & ill advised - I know this is short notice, however he knows this is do or die, realistically there is nothing left if he suffers a bad loss here. So I see a fully dedicated, wise Burkinshaw coming out & taking the belt home.Fingers crossed
This was a top drawer fight especialy the last few rounds the place was in uproar. Once again abysmal judging it was a s.d with all judges havinv it 3 or 4 dz up to either fighter. I didnt score it as it was going but waz y expecting a draw or 1pt to either fighter. R.b was having trouble getting past the spaw jab but in the mid and later rdz started to get inside a lot more. I think if cunny had been more used to doing 12rds he would of won. Both fighters had great support. Great fight.
Never saw it as I was at the Blackledge show in Blackburn but absolute made up for ross , let's hope he can string a few wins together and who knows.
Cunningham's boxing had him edging ahead early doors, but Burkinshaw was well in charge in the championship rounds. Ross was bullying, outworking and outfighting Cunningham at the end and he simply wanted it more. Cunningham is very good, he's young and he will come again. Last night was the best thing that could've happened to him.
