It is wrong when a prelim fighter like Johny Hendricks gets paid more then a title challenger like Chael Sonnen. If someone reaches main event status then there should be a standard fee of $50k with $50k win bonus etc Otherwise we face the same issue as the Carwin bout of other fighters getting paid more than the best. I still like the UFC pay structure which is totally geared towards coming to fight and winning. It breeds a completely different mindset and you can see that if you compare boxers and MMA. Boxers too often don't come to fight. They are getting paid to pose for 12 rounds. There is no incentive to get the ko or even come from behind. Even winning for some of these guys doesn't seem like such a big deal. Imagine doubling your money for winning and then get bonuses for winning an award. Some fighters can more than triple their money in one good night of work.
This is the base pay only. The UFC runs a system where it pays 'locker room bonuses' that aren't included in the official purse. Even if you completely **** the bed on an undercard fight you'll still probably get a $10,000 bonus. These figures also don't include the public bonuses for Fight of the Night, KO of the Night and Submission of the Night. Also some fighters get a cut of each PPV sold - Silva has such a deal and Hughes may have as well.

To put these figures in perspective, Lesnar earned a base pay of $400,000 at UFC 100 but its estimated he earned $4mil when his ppv points and locker room bonus was factored in.

Anderson doesn't get a win bonus because his contracted pay is high and he gets a pay per view cut. Lesnar didn't a get win bonus at UFC 116 either. And whatever you say about Zuffa they invested $40million of their own money from 2001-2005 to keep the UFC alive.

Socialist actually - I'd just rather have a system where the main eventers aren't paid so much money that there's nothing left for undercard fighters and you have a central promotion that is willing to invest money in running new markets.
so if anderson got paid as much as brock lesnar the system would collapse? Is it possible just to pay dana white less, since he didnt originally invest the money and Frettitas did.
i agree with this... there should be a system so it wouldn't seem unfair for others. champions, contenders & top tier fighters, mid tier fighters, cab drivers & prelim fighters should have different level of salary...
If you are good enough to be fighting in the main event and/or for a title then you should be assigned a certain pay bracket as you are supposedly the best in the UFC. If Sonnen is the numebr 1 middleweight contender in the world of MMA (which is what the UFC is selling) then you should get paid as if you are. What I'm saying isn't to be confused with MMA don't get paid enough. I like the pay structure and as soon as fighters earn too much (ala Fedor and boxing) they will get too big for their boots, call the shots and ensure the best don't fight the best. It will be a case of the richest fight the richest in a quest to get richer as 'they got a family to feed' blah blah blah (and they are multi millionaires).
