Hey guys, Normally I'd have a bit more time to be more discriptive but being at work I don't have that luxury right now however i just wanted to state my case for this weekend's action! ODLH vs Pac Man Difficult match for me to analyze given Oscar is coming down to a weight he's not fought at in many years and Pac is going up two weights (3 if you remove his last fight) so I've no idea how agile he will be. The key in this fight will be Manny's agility that'll be the deciding factor if he can keep that while moving up and use it to get in/out of Oscar's offence he may have a chance however when picking this fight I have to go with my initial gut feeling. There's just too many questions about Manny moving up, size should be a factor he never was the greatest of technical boxers and historically only truly technical boxers can move up to beat physically bigger foes. Winner: Oscar - and this is a very confident pick. Carl Froch vs Jean Pascal Sorry Pascal isn't taking this fight its a complete mismatch imo he's been built up to be bigger than he is. It might look good for a few roudns but ultimately Pascal seems (from what little footage I have seen I admit) to have little footwork, little body movement and very generic looping punches; his aggression is the only thing favouring him here. Contrary to popular belief Froch does have semi-decent upper body movement, is suitably fast and hits like a freight train - he's easily the biggest puncher in the division, throws straight shots with authority and can make some good angles when he wants too plus his style is a little unorthodox which is another thing Pascal will not be familiar with. Lastly, his chin. It is that good. Reid tested him with a huge right power shot in their fight around rounds 3/4 I recall and Foch took it easily while even the commentators were shocked at just how he took it & I don't see Pascal having anymore power than Reidy. He's also taken a few licks from various other boxers and taken them well from what I've seen. Pascal always has a chance but this fight isn't as even as people claim I believe. Froch will do a complete number on him and I wholly expect Froch vs Kessler or even Froch vs Dawson to be brought up on this forum after this fight. Froch only gives away 2" to dawson in height and could easily bulk upto 175 - a fight with Dawson would be one for the books for sure. Winner: Froch; another confident pick. Other fights Enzo Maccarinelli, Amir Khan & Fraudley to all win their fights. The Enzo fight is a joke now, Khan will probably win but could always lose and Fraudley will most likely goto points ina fight he won't look great in & may even be tested - even lose he is so inconsistent! Overall this is one of the best boxing weekend's in a while! :smooch
DLH vs. Pacquiao will be a sparring session, foretold by the real boxing experts even before the ink was wet. I agree with the picks though, Froch sparks Pascal, DLH UD's(or possibly SD's) Pacquiao. Fraudley and them boys I couldn't care less of.:good
Hey guys, My 1st wrong ESB prediction :nut Oh well, had to happen someday and I'm glad it was a good boxer like Manny that did it; well done Manny! I'll not discount you so easily in the future! Fraudley lost but then again I said it was highly possible so you can forgive me there :tong The Froch fight was amazing though and for those of you who didn't see it you missed one of the best fights of 2008 there were literally constant bombs being thrown for the 1st five rounds - it really was something to behold.
