Exactly, whilst it's an interesting fight compared to last weeks card and the rest of this card take the name 'eubank' and change it for something else and I doubt anyone would think anything but a BJS knockout, in the cold heart of day looking at records etc it's comparable to degale v periban but it's massively hyped up based on his surname and good reports from sparring partners, when you look at it like that you can make a good argument it's a glorified, very highly paid tuneup for BJS' world title shot next year Know some have mentioned how BJS has acted but IMO it's all part of the show, this should be easy work for him, unless eubank has actually got into his head like groves did with froch for their first fight
Ryder took alot of rounds off billy. If bjs wasnt allowed by the ref to tie him up that much and ryder was just that little bit better... Well we wouldnt be having this conversation. Eubank is dangerous on the inside, if hes allowed to work by the ref bjs will be in for a beating. Oh yeah and for people saying only records matter what was ryders record before fighting bjs hey
think bjs wins this pretty comfortable eubank doesnt do enough in his fights ,might not even do 12 well if saunders starts a fast pace
genuinely dont think its that close billy joe feels like value bet of the year.An absolute insult these prices to billy joe.
As long as I'm watching boxing, and that's a long time, the one thing that managers of hot prospects like Eubank fear and avoid like the plague is a PUNCHER. The one thing BJS is not, is....a puncher. That's why he was specially selected as Eubanks break-out fight. The Eubanks are fast-tracking their man against a high profile but (they think/hope) "safe" opponent. They prob figure, worst case scenario, BJS wins on points. Not the end of the world. Eubank can claim " I wasnt ready", back to the drawing board, a few rebuilding fights, and he's young enough to come again, his pride and credibility intact. But...what if BJS turns out to be WAY better? What if BJS Stops Eubank, or wins every single round? What if BJS is in really super shape smd sets a blistering pace, throwing 100 punches a round? He has that capability, they might be light shots, however at a 50% connect rate, Eubank is going to get hit a lot....500 times in 10 rounds. Is he ready for that? Is his father prepared to sit and watch that?
That's what makes this the domestic FOTY for me in terms of anticipation and yes i even mean above the Froch-Groves rematch as i knew and predicated the result of that beforehand so wasn't looking forward to it as much as this one which has so many 'what ifs' to it. If Eubank jr wins and does it in spectacular fashion then he could well be as special as his dad thinks. If he wins i'd certainly pick him over the winner of Lee-Korobov and then i guess the next stage of becoming a Super Star will be taking on the formidable GGG in 2016 if Golovkin is still at 160lbs.
Eubank snr is not some overprotective dad, the guy is clearly mental , he shipped his kids off to america to be trained in vegas and get dual citizenship. He watched jnr get beaten up by some cuban heavyweight. You don't know much about the fathering insticts of Eubank snr if you think he'll pull him out of there early, unless he's getting absolutely bludgeoned to death by which point the ref will have stopped it already, so yah whatever mate you dont need to worry about that. Also, if you think Eubank will take a loss to a non world champion if he has to, you don't know their mindset. Misinformed or not they have big plans for jnr, and if he gets a loss now, it won't look too good. In fact Eubank snr has said that he actually wanted a few more fights for jnr before he took on saunders. Furthermore concerning your high punch output scenario. IMO Saunders won't throw that many punches because he will be too busy moving. Ok maybe if they are 90% jabs but you get the idea. I think he will run at times, clinch, jump in&out with shots and stay off the ropes&corners at all costs. I really don't think he will be trying to grind him down with volume punching as that just gives Eubank too many openings and too much opportunity to counter. But who knows. my 2c
Relax Zero. I only asked about dad sitting there watching his son getting jabbed silly as one I've in a 10 line post. Interestingly, I his autobiography, from 10+ years Chris lists another son, not Chris jr, as being the one that might have what it takes as a boxer. Funny how things turn out...Dad might not know best after all...
he didnt want him to box yeah, but now jnr eat sleeps and ****s boxing whereas seb isnt too fussed apparently. almost no parent can reliable say how their children will turn out or what trade they will eventually apply themselves in, wouldnt read too much into that.
Not being nasty, but shocked at some of the comments about this fight, particularly the comments supporting a Eubank win often from supposedly knowledgeable fans who should know better. Examples: 1. "The Eubanks wouldn't have taken this fight unless they know something we don't about Chris being brilliant....blah blah (Newsflash guys, people make mistakes..that's why they put rubbers on pencils....) 2." Eubank is the better athlete..blah blah" (Newsflash ...hasnt BJS gone 12 fast rounds multiple times...and isn't this a BOXING. Match, so surely its BJS that is the "proven athlete"here, no?) 3." His father stepped up and beat Benn" ( newsflash..true but irrelevant. BJS couldn't be more different from Benn!) 4. " he looked good sparring Froch..." (Newsflash anyone with a pulse can look good for a round or two against .carl cos Carl just ain't very good technically.factor in big gloves, headgear...Froch being tired, un- sharp etc. obviously in aREAL fight, small gloves, no headgear 12 rounds Carl is a different proposition...) COME ON PEOPLE.....GET REAL HERE!!!! Etc etc etc....
Newsflash.... nobody really knows just how good eubank is, so it comes down to personal opinions. I'm calling a eubank Jr win. If that makes me clueless in some people's eyes so be it, but we will see what happens come fight night.
