was looking at the bbboc website and also heard about a couple of fights for scottish boxers in eliminators and final eliminators for the british title. how do we see our lads getting on? darren traynor takes on the big punching james tennyson in a final eliminator in belfast. that should be a good bout, darren was a top amateur and has been doing very well since turning over. james tennyson is a hard puncher but darren won't be put off by that and could well get the job done even in belfast. purse bids have went out for steven simmons vs tommy mcarthy. i know big simbo very well and it will be good if mgm can win the purse bids and get the fight in edinburgh. really think after the ****inson fight he will learn and will get his hands on the british at some point. purse bids have also went out for iain butcher vs andrew selby as a final eliminator. i can't see iain win this to be honest but he has the more experience in pro boxing and andrew has been fighting very small guys at the weight. would love to see iain get the win though he is a smashing lad. dundee will also have 2 fighters boxing in eliminators. the big hitting mike towell will box robert dixon in dundee. i watched dixon just the once but he could be all wrong for towell. mike can really bang and is constantly in your face, i can't see dixon holding him off and getting stopped in the mid rounds. i was also told this morning that my mate jordan mccorry will take on ronnie clark for the scottish title at super featherweight and it will also be a british eliminator. jordan is my mate but this will be a tough fight that i see him edging. i think him coming down in weight will help him and he will be big an strong. but if he lets ronnie into the fight then he could also get beat. really 50/50 fight and i know peter will have jordan ready for whatever happens. i personally think all these guys have a good chance and it will be great to see these lads get the chance of a british title later in 2016. good luck to all the lads.
Simmons vs Tommy should be an even fight, good clash of styles. Simmons will come forward and Tommy could box at range. 50 - 50 fight but hopefully Simmons wears him down. Andrew Selby more talented than Butcher yet should be a really good tussle. Fancy Selby on points. Darren Traynor will not be fazed going over to Belfast, man is as hard as nails, can punch and has all round ability. Do not know anything about his opponent. Mikey Towell very exciting, again know nothing about his opponent so cannot comment.
Simmons has already said his no interest in facing McCarthy as he has bigger plans. IMO he doesn't but McCarthy is a very tough fight as his a great prospect and losing to him could finish simmons. If its on in Edinburgh I'll be there thoighh Docherty the Scottish youth euro silver medalists looks quality and lazzeri the light heavyweight look like great prospects
john docherty is part of the gb set up now and that will really help him step up a level. not seen that much of lazzeri tbh i don't know what way simmons can go though? i have said to him personally that i feel his best chance at a title is the british.
I agree with you on simmons but he put out a twit almost laughing at the suggestion of fighting McCarthy likes his going to European level or some nonsense. I honestly don't think he wants McCarty he could be a great fughter and is still only a prospects . simmons is probably thinking if I lose this I'm going down journeyman level
i hope not, imo after the way he performed against jon lewis ****inson he really needs to realise that euro level is probably too far and he needs to get his head back in the game and get that british title. would love to see him vs askin too
I'd love to see him against McCarthy, think it would be a great fight to bring McCarthy on and if its in Edinburgh I'll be there
Great fights, In my eyes I reckon that Tommy will beat Simmons, I liked Simmons before his defeat but think McCarthy Is a bit special, he's really highly rated. Darren trainor isn't fighting Tennyson no more. Trainor will fight Walsh for the British. Mike towell v Dixon is a hard one. Mike can be outboxed but he's relentless and you can't switch off. Hopefully mikey can pull it off. Butcher v selby is an absolute ******* and for me selby will go all the way. Butcher isn't as active as he should be. Didn't keep going off the back of the satchel robbery. Really good fighter but just think selby will win a world title within 10 fights. Ronnie b Jordan is a nice little domestic title fight, they have mutual Oppononts on dougie curran who Ronnie beat and Jordan drew with and andrei podusovs who easily beat Jordan for a masters and Ronnie beat in Aberdeen and dropped twice for the referee to not count. Jordan has a great coach in Peter Harrison and is a tough boy but IMO Ronnies expieirence will be too much and he will grind out a stoppage. I like the look of these fights and glad they can be made
Thought doyle was fighting walsh. Was on board notices traynor tennsyon was set for a date in Belfast
Andy Townend seems to be trying to use the commonwealth route to try and get the Walsh fight, quite clever to be fair and then have it sanctioned for British. I think he may be after James but all the fighters above should try stay ready incase of pull out as Troy has been injured. Ronnie would take that fight with Mitchell smith any day but for me we are gonna see a new Mitchell smith who will stay at feather weight and realise that he loses a lot of his attributes by not shedding they 4lbs to feather. I think Cacace may face Martin j ward in a final eliminator on the frampton/quigg undercard though.
great news for darren trainor, i'm sure david will have him down to my gym for some sparring has mentioned for what will be a very tough fight
