Settling the Reid 'debate'

  1. Just a friendly reminder to those still questioning this fight:

Joe defeated Reid, as Reid even admitted after the fight, with a dodgy left hand and lets not forget Joe is a southpaw (left handed).

Even though Joe has stunning movement you'll notice the fight is also yet another example of Joes superhuman ability to take bombs. Note how he took shots to the face while setting up his own combinations seemingly without being fazed? A true legend.

I thought Reid won the fight at the time not seen a replay since. But to be honest, It's so long ago it hardly matters now.

Well, I agree with you. But should point out its 'better' to break your back hand than your lead hand.

Reid won, calzaghe run the 100 metres in 9 seconds to avoid the rematch

Joe hurts his hand and goes life and death with Robin Reid (a bum)

Jones hurts his hand and owns Hopkins (ring legend and sure thing for the hall of fame)

    Enough said.

God help Calslappy if he loses to Hopkins, this site might get interesting again if that happens :happy

Your stretching it now mate:tong Neither Hopkins nor Jones were legends when they fought each other and Reid is far from being a bum.

What does it matter that they weren't legends at the time? That just proves that both fighters were prepared to step up the competition in their 20's (unheard of to Calzaghe fans I know but believe me it's a good concept in a sport like boxing)

Using your logic I can definately dismiss the Lacy win as he's turned out to be average, and the Kessler win still has question marks over it too.

It matters because Hopkins at the time was no more a legend than what Reid was at the time Calzaghe fought him. The rest of Lacy's career remains to be seen, but it's not looking promising is it:-( Nevertheless, it's still not over. Kessler looks to be quite capable of being a future p4p star, but we just have to wait and see with him.

But, looking back at when you were a JC fan. Where you not happy at the time that he was fighting Reid? Where you calling Reid a bum back then?
