Fighters that tried to emulate Ali, whether they were succesful or not.

Page and Tyrell Biggs both spring to mind right off the bat.

    Tate maybe?

Sadly it seemed like a number of fighters in the 80's emulated Ali. But the end of career Ali. Looking out of shape, not doing as much as they do just enough to get the nod. Imagine a top shape Greg Page, with no fat?? He would have dominated. The 80's started seeing Heavyweights who for the first time not in top physical shape(Young Fighters). Plus they had the luxury of not having to go 15 rounds also factored in.

You have given the obvious two, Page and Biggs,I dont see any similarity between Ali and Tate myself.A sub standard UK version might be Herbie Hide?

Samuel Peter in the rematch with James Toney, during the last 10 seconds.

Botha would do it every now and then, he'd take a punch then do his Ali hobble around the ring.

Page and Biggs, but probably Page a little more than Biggs.

They tried to emulate Ali? Canzoneri was fighting when Ali wasn't even born, and Pep was fighting when Ali was either in his nappies or a teenager.

Canzoneri fought more like Bob Fitz than he did Ali though.

Hmmm...interesting.When Ali compared most to great fighters these are the two names I've seen mentioned. Wasn't Ali somewhat similar to Canzoneri in his countering and defensive punching? :think

My thinking goes that the fighters who stylistically resemble the originals Pep and Canzoneri, would be most like Ali.

If you are talking about 80s heavyweights Witherspoon made a great Ali impression ,when he started jabbing from the southpaw stance and back to orthodox against Holmes...
