Haye as I said was all about the ££££

Fowler took a big leap up in levels fighting a former world champion and was stopped by the best opponent he's ever been in the ring with... but came out of the bout with more respect than he went in with from fans as he put up a good fight early doors and buzzed Smith numerous times.

Groves prior to McGuigan was in a rut and under performing - it was McGuigan who was able to piece it back together and get him back on form. He was bandaged together because of the shoulder fiasco (after boxing Eubanks head off) for the Callum Smith fight as they were working to a deadline date given that it was the Muhammad Ali trophy final and duly retired after.

Gerry Storey - a good amateur coach - took Frampton as far as he could, McGuigan took Frampton to the next level and he didn't look as good when moving onto Jamie Moore.

I've think a fit Groves would have beat Smith.

The GG of the first Froch fight would have smoked Smith early.

That version was a very dangerous boxer-puncher.

How do you know that? Frampton had won the British and Commonwealth and everybody was raving about him. Shane took over from Storey on the night before his European title fight with Martinez (or just before the money started rolling in).

Haye was shot but his body was degenerating so quickly that he knew he was onto an early KO loss in the second one. It was, as we all know, a cash grab - Shane would have demanded / warranted a bigger cut of his final pay out.

I’m struggling to find it as it’s all post fight stuff now when I search but I read an interview where Jamie was talking about it.

No chance. His jab was working well. He got caught and countered of that, and that's reason he got beat. Well that and fact he gave up when down.

Sadly he was never seen again. Never threw the right hand as loosely again after. That version of Groves is levels above Smith

Not sure he gave up. Smith has good power and caught him with a lovely shot to the body

I concur. That Groves was a handful for any SMW.

For what it's worth, I always thought that the VERY best Degale would have done Froch.

He did but when Groves was getting up he was looking at his corner and shock his head. If he had not already been a world champion I think he would have tried getting up. He would have been knocked out if he had.

I'm not saying it's the reason he lost but are we going to forget the naughty punches from Smith when Groves was down?

Adam Booth was great for Haye and Groves. They got greedy and they got sparked. You get what you pay for.

I met Jamie once, truly one of the nicest guys in boxing.
